Let me preface this by saying I am really new to power house vehicles, let alone RWD wheel drive. My previous car was a 109 hp glorified golf cart Nissan Versa fwd
So, owning the 2016 mustang, auto transmission, I've been tempted twice to go wide open throttle. Both times, I'm going in a straight line, not from stop, but from a rolling speed of maybe 15-30 mph, and I got up to 45 and 60 mph, respectively.
However in getting to these speeds, the engine revs to 7-7.5k (im guessing it's not changing gears). As soon as it hits this point, the back end swings out to the right.
I can understand how this works. My question is...is it normal? I'm guessing it's normal that if it revs that high it'll loose traction and fishtail. But is it normal
That that it should rev that high in general / not change gears (if that's what it's doing, being an automatic I don't know what gear it's in). And of corse as a follow up, how do I prevent this? How can I do a pull
Without having to worry about the end veering out? Do I have to shift using the paddles?
When in general would this car be prone to fishtail? Certain speeds, revs? Etc
Thanks! Again, I'm sure this seems amateur problems but I'm new to all this. Thanks!
