Hello,

i have a 2016 mustang ecoboost with K&N intake, blowoff valve, catless , Roush mufflers and custom tune.
I found these codes and feel the car not accelerating and power loss.
It has a new low pressure fuel pump, low pressure fuel sensor , purge valve, O2 sensor, HFP.

P0301(00) Pending
P0316(00) Pending
P04DB Permanent

My notices:

coolant level stable
on cold start somedays i hear spiting from the exhaust
a month ago I noticed the same codes and the coil on cylinder has a short and smell like burned, after changing it it went well.

The P0316 will be the result of any P0301, P0302, P0303 or P0304 (on an EB since it’s only 4 cylinders. If it were 8, then there would also be P0305-P0308).

P0301 pertains to Cyl 1.

- Pull your spark plugs and post pics of them. It’s possible Cyl 1 is having firing issues due to a bad plug (oil soaked, damaged electrode, etc) or improper plug gap (or other related Cyl issues).

- If all plugs look “normal” based on many documented spark plug “reader” websites or Tech manuals, then next easy step would be to swap Cyl 3 coil pack with Cyl 1. Reset all stored codes, then fire up the engine and see if the DTC (P0301) follows to Cyl 3 (or changes from a P0301 to a P0303). If it does, then the problem is a faulty coil pack. I would also check all connectors/wiring to each coil pack and make sure there’s no damages and all are totally secure.

If you have done both diagnosis steps above and the issue remains with still a P0301, then you will need to do a compression check on Cyl 1, and while at it, the other (3) cylinders.

While this vid isn’t for a Mustang S550 EB, it is for a Ford 2.7 EB with the same fault code. Maybe it’s helpful:

Hey bro, appreciate your help alot.

i did swap the cylinder one coil by three and the spark plug by two and cleared the DTC to see, so far no misfire so far, in case it happened again then compression test will be done.

regarding the PCV tube as in the video yes it was unplugged and i plugged it and noticed the code still appearing in a "Permanent" state, so that's why i am wondering.

again thanks and will keep you posted.
