I think the dealer gouging sucks, but the market is what the market is. If people are willing to pay it, the dealer has a right imo to charge it. This is America after all. When the market for a car is soft and buyers get below MSRP no one complains about it. Works both ways. Supply and demand baby!

That said I'm guessing there will be slight markup on these at some dealers, but not all. I don't think it has the appeal of the Shelby to see the massive markup that the first GT500s had.

Well guys today was the day. I went down to Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax VA and submitted my order into the computer. 2015 Mustang GT 50th Anniversary! It's standard equipment is...well...everything haha. my confirmation will be posted below and they have 3 slots left to order the Anniversary. It was awesome seeing "order sent to factory" on the screen! I'm so excited I can barely contain myself. A huge thanks to Eddie and Bernie at Ted Britt! Here is a picture of my confirmation!

It's not an official order...The Dealer will still have to go through a few more steps to actually order the car when the order banks open...I have one of those screen shots generated today, in my name...Misleading that they are titled as a confirmation.

Did your dealer show you the options screen with Smoker Package, Spoiler Delete & Roush Package available as an option on the LE?...Probably will disappear when they officially open-->

It does work both ways, and the dealers are sure to take advantage of the limited supply. I just got confirmation from one of the dealers in my area that they will be charging "significantly higher" than MSRP for the 7 50th Anniv models that they are allocated for.

Yep. And if they sit there in a showroom, the dealer will lower it til someone buys. I'm not sure 'significantly higher' will fly, but the dealer must know the market well if he's getting 7 of them.

Well, they are one of 6 Ford dealers within a 40 mile radius. They seem to have a beat on things, but time will tell if they are able to sell all of them at their asking price. FWIW, I bought my 2012 at 5K below MSRP from the same dealer.

Yep.

7 isn't an exorbitant number in some metro markets, especially those dominated by one or two dealer groups and after Ford's aggressive efforts to consolidate dealer footprint.

Again, Ford was very smart in how it allocated them. Very few went out in ones where a small store may try to look on it as a profiteering opportunity. The rest are multiples to high volume stores that are high volume for a reason. Most will presell them at nominal markups and simply take the money and run, using them as loyalty builders to develop future business.

Of the many dealers I've spoken with, I was surprised to learn of how many were intent upon keeping them local.

Exceptions inevitably will exist on both sides of the deal and one or two will go for $100K and be put in containers for Dubai or Kim Jong Nutjob, but they'll be just that - exceptions, though they're also the ones most likely to be talked about.

The 2012 is irrelevant. So is just about any other car you've ever bought to any other you're ever going to unless you buy in near-fleet numbers.

First you need to define "significantly above". That could mean $1,000 to $20,000 depending upon the parties involved. Most would be thrilled to get $5K more for a GT500 - which was made in larger numbers but is priced almost 40% higher. I'd wager most will go between MSRP and $5,000 over - a fair deal.

Besides, dealers also need to be able to finance some of them which may not be possible farther above sticker for those who may show interest. Floorplan costs eat up margin quick. Very few stores with multiple allocations will be willing to just sit on them. They'd rather have the turns (the smart ones anyway).

And very few dealers are going to undersell the value even before it's orderable. You can't negotiate up from a dealer's point of view and, at this point, no dealer has any reason to believe there won't be sufficient interest. What they say today and what the Sales Manager agrees on locking in a deal are likely two very different things.

I suspect most will sell in the $55-60K neighborhood depending upon the base vehicle price.

Well, the sales manager I talked to didn't give specific mark-ups. What he did say was that they have no intention of selling them at or near MSRP and thye are going to put a significant premium on them because of the limited production numbers and the exclusivity of the car. Now, whether that translates into a $5k or $20k mark-uo remains to be seen. As for the 2012 reference, I was mearly giving a reference point (I realize you can't really compare a run of the mill mass produced car with a limited edition anniversary model).

Have any of you guys who have placed their LE order confirmed that the Active Criuse/Collision Mitigation/Rain sensing wipers option (Code 52S) is included in the LE package? Reason I ask...there's no mention of it in the CDN or US order guides as an included feature. There's also no mention of the "Rear Sensing" option in the LE specs. Ford literature on the other hand states that the LE contains "all" Mustang options. In Canada these 2 options add just under 2k to the price of a GT. Can anyone clarify????

Congrats Brent302 on that Kona 50 order!! I just closed on a house in Annandale, VA today and hope to see your car around the streets. I am going to have to wait until 2016 or 2017 now since the house purchase was more important this year.

Any dealer can go and create orders like this, but none if it is a real order till order banks open ( 5/20-14 we are told).
Still, good luck on your order sir. :ford:
