Hello All,

New to the Mustang, but not new to cars. Before I order which will be soon

Watching the Mustang more closely over the last couple of years. The design has developed nicely. So well I am going, must have one as my own DD.

Figure I will ask the following here, a road block i want to get around.

The GT supreme, with the L2 performance package. Has a real draw back.

What could that be one wonders ? LOL

RED seats, hate them, and there in no to have the L2 performance package. Without those pathetic red seats.

To anyone that has done or knows about changing the red inserts. I would greatly appreciate all advice regarding dying, and how well it could stand the test of time.

I am looking for a professional to do make the color change. My knowledge is more machinist/mechanical than upholstery .

Thank in advance

Good morning Pep and welcome to the forum.

I presume you are talking about a GT "Premium" with the "Performance Package Level 2. Ford does force you to add the 401A package with the PP2.

The 401A package does include:
•Premier Trim with Color Accent Group
•Accent Stitched Center Console Lid, Wrapped Knee Bolsters with Accent Stitch, and Shifter Boot

The standard seat color is black. Showstopper Red is an option. It is not standard.

This picture is misleading:

Hope this helps.

Let me guess a salesman with no black seats in stock told you this.

You shouldn't have a problem finding someone to swap with you. Must be people who have the black seats just because the salesman told them red wasn't available. ;)

Find a forum member who wants to swap, or pay an upholstery shop a bunch of money to replace the red inserts with whatever color you want.

He hasn't bought a car yet so no issues with changing color. I'm pretty sure he was going off the picture on the Build & Price webpage.

You can swap the seats out, to my knowledge they are all interchangeable. There are alot of GTs usint the recaros from the gt350...

If the color of the seats is a deal breaker for you man you're in a world of hurt once you buy this car.

Yes its very reliable for a 460hp+ car... But its still a 460+hp car...

The tires are not cheap, the head light bulbs cost 200.00 each. And you Will struggle daily with resisting the urge to make 700whp. Because its so easy to do that with these cars...

Welcome to the community! Sounds like a great problem to have from my view, I'd gladly offer ya my base cloth seats, which happen to be all black in exchange if I were close by. :) Enjoy the forum!

Hey Pep

Welcome aboard and best of luck to becoming a soon to be Mustang owner.

Just an FYI - “PP2” = that’s the model you’re looking at and there’s quite a few threads with a ton of info on this site about that S550 platform. Here’s some to start you off:

Here’s one of the largest PP2 threads so far:

YES you are absolutely correct < discover that yesterday :-) The attachment, shows the black seat set selected, too the right is the fugly red set set., bk&red color patch.

The seats will change when viewing the interior. Where one selects to expand and rotate the views. So I'm the idiot LOL,

Not totally cause the salesmen couldn't figured it out, is that called shearing ?

So the serious hunt begins, great looking car, with real good performance features. Ford unlike the Camaro & Challenger has a much better break down of the options and what's is included... Well done Ford.

Thanks to all for the input.
