First Maintenance after break-in

Hi all, Back in april 2017 (about 9 months ago) I got my new 2017 Ecoboost Mustang. Unfortunately short after I had a terrible accident (long story short I got hit by a drunk driver while driving my motorcycle and broke lots of bones).

Because of that my Mustang only has 1500km or 950 miles. Now I'm wondering what maintenance you have to do, it's my first brand new car. I've only been driving my car for short periodes and just now when I'm better I start driving it more.

Since my Mustang has 1500km I guess it's broken in. Does it need any service after those first miles? The owner manual states to service it every 10000km. I asked the dealership and they said the same.

How often do you change the oil? Until now there has been no service to the car, I just broke in the engine using the oil that was in the car from the dealership.

This might me a dumb question and prob asked many times before but should you change oil often or add more? Is there a way to check the oil via the console computer or only via the motor dip stick?

And I assume when it runs out of oil a light will blink right?

It sounds like you probably made lots of short trips. That is generally tough on oil (moisture buildup). If it were me, I would change the oil/filter. All else should be good.

Thanks for your input, by reading some other posts I found out that you are able to check the life percentage of your oil in the settings. It's recommended to change it each year or 10000km whatever comes first so I'll probably do an oil change and replace the filter.

Would installing an oil catch can reduce moisture buildup?

I don't think so. Getting the oil hot for an extended period of time (30+ minutes) is the best way to prevent/remove moisture. In simple terms, drive it!! A Lot!!
