first: 1980 Ford Escort

Duuuuuuuuuude......that was my 2nd car. An 82' Escort, in black, 50% eaten by rust.

It was actually kinda quick for it's day.

The brake line rusted through!!! I drove for about a week, with no brakes. Just using the engine braking, and starting the car in-gear. Thankfully, a friend-of-a-friend, who worked in a garage, took pity on my broke-ass and patched the line and re-filled the system for me, for free.

That car was kinda' bitchin' though. It had an after-market sun-roof that popped out, and since there was no stereo, I put a boom-box in the back seat, and changed FM station or cassett tape by reaching back behind me. Went through a lot of batteries.

I've probably had too many cocktails, but feeling very fortunate! I guess I just wanted to share with other car people that would "get it". This picture is from today, it's the first car I ever bought and the last car I bought, and they are parked next to each other in my garage! I bought the Fiero when I was about 24, and when I was ready to sell it, my dad convinced me that he wanted it. He bought it from me and drove the car until the heater core puked, and then it sat for 10 years. We got it back on the road this summer. After a new heater core, an A/C conversion, new headliner, etc, it is road worthy and I've been enjoying driving it. BTW, he gifted it back to me!

I see a KTM in there... Love my 450 XC-W
