I've been getting that new/new to me car itch. I'm thinking of something that may be a little more comfortable in the daily rush hour commute, seats 4, maybe AWD, but still Fun to drive when the roads open or I get a nice backroad.
The problems that I've been running into:
Many cars, at any price under 65K, don't have easy entry, and/or cooled seats. In this day/age I don't feel like that should be hard to find.
Nothing meeting the items i listed above are as quick and fun in the twisties. Most cars I've tried are nearly as quick, OR they handle better, nothing feels on par in both areas.
The only vehicles that meet the most criteria are the M340 X-Drive, S4/S5, Golf R and Integra Type-S. Yet all also fall short in some areas. It's like the S550 was just TO good or that cars have been stagnate for the last 5-6 years. I remember going from a 2003 Mach1 to a 2013 Altima and the comfort, MPG and tech made that shitbox feel like a luxury car against the Mach1. It was slower, but it just DESTROYED it in every other aspect. I've been out test-driving cars, and everything feels like it has areas "as good" or just tiny bits better, while also going backwards in other areas that I don't feel like it should be. Like the features I mentioned. Those two things should be STANDARD now in some price ranges IMO when they have been options on Mustangs since at least 8yrs, not sure if they were on the 15-17 cars or not.
Am I over thinking things? There are some nice cars out there, but all that I've looked at seems to require me to give up something and not give me a lot in trade to justify what I'd be giving up. Are there no good competitors for a 2019 GT that have 4 doors that are not like an RS5 or an M2? That is kind of how it feels.
