Ya, We still change the oil at 5k. No matter what the full syn. will go, or what the vehicle oil life thing states.
But ya, engine life has a lot to do with care.
The blend to me just seems like going to the parts store grabing 6qt's the full syn. then cheaping out, and putting 3 qt back and grabing 3 qts of store brand dino oil to save 10 bucks.
At the end of the day does it matter, I don't know.
I've had vehicles that went 350-400k on dino oil and the cheapest, whatever was on sale at the time oil. So. who knows.
I have used 2 of my 9 changes and do not have 4,000 miles yet. 1st at 1500, break in oil and purge filter of any shavings, old school like my Harley. lol Second at 3500 because I was heading to Charlotte and thought I might buy some track time. To use 9 in 3yrs I will be changing every 4 months.

I used my points when I bought mine in the parts department. I bought the black 5.0 badges and the black pony for the grille and a couple oil filters to use mine up.

Just got an email from Ford re: my FordPass account that answered my question of how much each point is worth. Here's the pertinent bit:

That's 20,000 additional Points ($100 value) combined with the standard bonus of 11,000 Points.
So, 200 points equal $1 in value, as I suspected. Just good to know.

Is there any way to see how much the points are worth? I have 42K from when I bought the car and would love to see the dollar value in service. Maybe it varies by dealer?
I'm sure it does vary by dealership as they all have different labor rates, etc. My dealer has a flat rate of $180/hour! Anyway, my 42,000 points gave me 1 completely free oil change and the second one I ended up paying about half of whatever they charged. Now I'm doing all that stuff myself (much cheaper even with name-brand full synthetic oil). Of course they don't really listen to me because I only wanted the oil and filter change but they did tire rotation which required reprogramming the TPMS locations, etc. I'm certain that wasn't free.

Mine charged me 18,000 points for a change on my Mach 1

So that's a $180 $90 (math is hard) equivalent. Anything special about your oil change that would make it cost so much? Or is this just how much they cost and I should budget for it?

1st was $89.40 2nd $95.27. 1st $20 labor, 2nd $30 labor with $10 discount. lol Diff. was the cost of oil, $5.01 vs $5.41. Why I paid for nine free. Wish I could still do it myself but bad back prevents that. Understand it is a bitch.

The motor company uses 5w-20 semi-synthetic. Why?? Full synthetic for years has been shown to have greater lube performance. All the ford reps at track attack did not have a clue??

Probably to present a lower cost?
