Wanted to trade to a 18 GT but hate trading cars and losing money. I got 0% from Ford and don't owe much on my 15 GT.

Wanting to add a supercharger but worried insurance co. will cancel my insurance if I tell them i added one or finding a company that doesn't have issues with adding one.

For the people that added a supercharger or a turbocharger did your insurance co. Give you grief or cancel you altogether or did you just not mention it? I want to be honest and let them know what my plans are but don't know how the process works. Any help is appreciated.

I have progressive. I didn't tell them I have a supercharger but they offer $5,000 in additional coverage for aftermarket parts so that is what I have.

Didn't say anything about the blower to my insurance. Need to see how much aftermarket coverage I have.

Why would you trade a 15 for an 18. You want a 10 speed that bad? The engine don't look like it's gonna be FI induction friendly for a while anyways with the higher compression.

You shouldn't have a problem with any insurance for adding FI. You can get additional coverage for aftermarket parts if they offer it but I don't believe they would cancel your policy.

You're right that they won't cancel the policy. But they probably won't cover the supercharger if there's an accident.

I called almost every insurance company available to me. None of them will cover an aftermarket performance modification. Even if they cover a certain amount in aftermarket parts coverage, that does not include a performance modification.

Just don't tell them, and hope it doesn't get damaged in an accident because you'll have to foot the bill yourself unfortunately. Several companies told me I would be cancelled if I added a Supercharger.

Don't ask, don't tell type situation. And just hope that if you are ever unfortunately in an accident, that it is a rear end job :)

Adding a supercharger won't void your insurance, however it won't be covered by your insurance if it is damaged in an accident. If the accident is the other person's fault, than you can file a claim against their insurance to have it covered, albeit if you have full tort coverage.

This is what i am concerned about and pretty much think what will happen. I have USAA and am about to give them a call but i'm sure they will tell me the same thing.

Not the case with Gieco. They WILL cancel your policy if they find out you track or have performance engine modifications.

I'm shopping for insurance right now and spoke with GEICO and told them I have a TT kit and they will not insure it. They will insure all my other cars. They dropped my Jeep Wrangler because it had a winch. The problem with not telling them is you are/possibly stepping into insurance fraud. They will probably find out and could deny your coverage all together leaving you all to your own.

When i told State Farm i had 8k worth of mods on mine, they increased my payout $3100 extra after totaling it. I thought that was more than fair, especially since if i were to sell it I wouldn't have got that out of it.

Did your car have a supercharger or was it turbocharged?
