It's not that hard to believe really... just because it has an Italian badge on it doesn't mean it was touched by the hand of god. The 5.0 in question was making ~460 wheel at the time, and was on radials. Didn't pull by much, half a car or so.
A 460 RWHP Mustang pulled ANY amount on a car that goes 60-100 MPH in 3.5 seconds or 60-150 in 12.0 seconds... C'mon man...

I cant believe this thread is going where it is from a simple funny comment the OP made. You really cant compare the 2 and there is a reason for the big gap in the pricing.

From Autoevolution:

The footage below brings us just such an event and we have to admit the battle is delicious.

From the very beginning, the driver of the Prancing Horse acts in a fair manner, as he seems to offer the ‘Stang a bit of a head start. Moreover, it doesn’t appear the supercar is using its launch control feature.

Even so, the Maranello machine starts threatening the '14 GT500 (662 HP) as soon as the driver of the muscle car switches into second gear. From that point on, the mid-engined car keeps enlarging the gap between itself and the slab of America.

The race takes place on an airport runway, so the two have no care in the world, other than making it to the finish line as quickly as possible.

The numbers tell a different story than the footage. And the race is closer than you might think

Despite the footage appearing to show the Ferrari as the crushing winner, the speed track results show a different situation. The Shelby GT500 managed to run as fast as 146.98 mph (that’s 236.7 km/h for all you reading this across the pond), with the Ferrari climbing to 150.20 mph (242 km/h).

As you can imagine, this wasn’t the only run the two speeders performed on the day of the race. However, while the velocity mentioned above marked the Ferrari’s best run, the GT500 managed to work his clutch-dumping and shifting magic in a way that sends the car flying to 149.11 mph (240 km/h).

P.S.: The combined soundtrack of the two is something you don’t get to listen to every day.
