What is your favorite Snell Foundation approved helmet SA2005 (or Newer).

I've only ever purchased motorcycle helmets...I don't even know where to find a helmet for a car...I am starting the search in my hometown now!

I like the Bell Vador in black. It looks nice and has space for comms. I want to pick one up for my next track day, hopefully later this year. I have to find a place where I can try on helmets for size, though.

Try Pegasus in Wisconsin - a longtime supplier of racing stuff, and they now carry Ford Racing Parts too: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/?cid=1000&type=GAWSearch&gclid=CJOV4LrNqswCFQgaaQodAZgNdA. For the helmet, go as light as you can afford and buy the latest Snell rating, so you can use it longer. As an alternative, Snell 2010 helmets seem to be on sale everywhere at clearance prices now. Snell recommends retiring a helmet after 5 years, so you'll still get to 2020 with an SA2010.

I've had numerous helmets in my life from racing over the years. I'd HIGHLY recommend going into a store, a physical brick and mortar store location and trying on helmets in PERSON. Not all sizes are identical from manufacturer to manufacturer.

For example since you mention asking what our favorite helmets are in the first post, my original favorite helmet was made by Arai, I was dead set on it. A buddy of mine told me to try it on before ordering it so I went to a store and discovered it really did not feel comfortable around my cheek bones. Go to a store, you'll find something you like in person.

You noted Snell 2005. Do NOT buy one that old. It appears Snell updates every 5 years. Most tracks will only honor current and one past (ie current = 2015 and one past is 2010). If you showed up at our track with 2005, you would be sent home. FWIW

Good luck. :)

Thanks fellas.

Stinger - I almost ordered my brother a motorcycle helmet from the same artist that did the two above!

Stilo ST5 if you have the money.

But I highly agree that you need to find a store with some inventory and just try a bunch of different ones on.

I went into a store and tried a bunch. It's really the only way to really see what fits. I ended up getting a an HJC AR10 as well
