Favorite brand is snap-on for warranty, selection (unique and specific applications), and the fact that Jimmy comes by the shop every week. That being said, I have harbor freight, craftsman, husky, and other random brands in my boxes right now.. I keep a bag of cheap hand tools at the shop so I can install wheel/tire kits and other accessories without robbing the techs of their tools.

When I wrenched, I would buy Matco or Snap-On.

Now days, Craftsman and a lot of Kobalt as my wife works for Lowes. The discount is nice.

Speaking of Harbor Freight, I love their tool boxes. Can not beat the quality for the price. I have had the same Craftsman three tier since I was an Oil Tech in High School. Thinking about upgrading.

oh man, Walmart has this Stanley brand ratchet that is double action on the handle! You twist the handle and it moves the ratchet so you can get bolts started or fully loosened in really tight spaces really quickly. That's my favorite tool in the garage! All of my favorites have green tape on the handles so my hubs knows not to misplace/break them or else :paddle:

I'm personally fond of milwaukee for power tools. As for hand tools, i'm not a professional mechanic... so I don't necessarily need to rely on them. I'll buy whatever's cheap, often that's harbor freight, tekton, husky, or kobalt. And if they break for whatever reason or don't do the job, then I'll pay more for more quality.

Since I had very few tools to start with, paying tool truck money for tools would've been foolish.

I was so close to buying this the other day. I think it's just too big for what I need. But at $498 it's a pretty damn good deal.

No doubt, it is big. But you can organize everything so well. Lots of room for power tools as well as your mechanics tools.

If you have the physical space for this unit, buy it!! You won't regret it.

In my small but growing tool box, I am a Craftsman guy. Good quality stuff, not super expensive lifetime warranty. If it breaks, just walk into sears and say give me a new one.

My old man is a Snap-On guy. Fantastic tools, but way to much $ IMO. Yes they are extreme high quality but some of the replacement tools he has gotten over the last year or so seem "cheap" compared to the part they replaced. I am sure they are still fantastic tools, but to me they seem cheaper than his old ones. But I will say if I needed a special tool, it would be a snap on lol.
