I have bought brand new replacement parts before and had them fail within days. So......it happens regardless of brand.

I suppose I shouldn't be generalizing, but Moog "made in America" versus Ford "made in China". You can tell which company is prioritizing quality and which cares more about pinching pennies.

Props to Tommy Vaughn Ford Houston. Zero hassle, replaced the wheel hub and had the car in the service bay when I picked it up today. Kept it locked up out of the elements and had the car less than 3 days and two of those days were ice days here in Houston.

So far Tommy Vaughn Ford has been awesome to deal with. Zero hassle with the rear bumper alignment. Zero hassle with the rear wheel hub. I will never use another Ford dealership for service as long as Tommy Vaughn is around.

I had my drivers side rear go bad as well. Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax VA refused to warranty it because I had ARP wheel studs. Dicks... I now have all the tools to do it myself. Replacement assembly is like $60 on Tasca.

So what's the check for this, again? try and move the wheel laterally while it's unloaded? How much play is too much? Any?

Mine was making noise, but also had some movement in it.

Get the wheel off the ground and grab the wheel with one hand on opposite sides of the tire. Try to wiggle the tire back and forth. There should be zero movement. If there is movement, something is wrong somewhere. When I say try to move the tire I don’t mean in a rolling motion. You try to pull the rim off of the car by wiggling it back-and-forth.

I had driver side rear wheel hub go bad on 16 track pak / 2000 miles - with 2 20min track sessions on the car. Dealer took car of with no questions asked.
