Hi All -

I need to replace one of the rims on my car and I'm trying to locate the same type of tape weights used at the factory to balance the rims. It's important to me that the weights on the replaced rim match the other 3 rims on the car. The weights have a "5 Fe" embossed in the top and are trapezoidal in shape. See the picture below, which is from my car.

Does anyone have access to these or know where they can be purchased? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks just like what the tire shop balanced my new tires with.
I'm guessing they are 5grams each. Fe is the symbol for iron but I'd have thought they'd be lead...
Why is this so important?

What tire shop did you use, and do you have a picture of the weights they installed? There's so many different configurations available, sometimes it's hard to tell.

It's just important to me. I'm picky, I guess. :)

Upon closer inspection, mine are not exactly the same. Mine are slightly more square and have 1/4 (quarter ounce) imprinted on them.
If you put 5g in front of Bikeman's search you'll get some pretty close. IDK, maybe even exactly but I stopped looking half a page in...
The only thing that bugs me about the weights is they are gray on black wheels. I'll probably get some Testors gloss black paint and fix that sometime.

If you're picky, get blacks instead :D. I'll paint them black with a Sharpie when I replace the brake pads with Z23s.

Thanks Osofast. That's exactly what I'm looking for but unfortunately I'm not able to place the order :(. Looks like a glitch in the web page or maybe they already sold.

I did check with my dealer and they don't know how to order the factory type weights. They basically said they buy their weights from a local supplier, which is not the same as the supplier used at the factory.

It's almost like I need to find someone who works at the factory and have them sneak some out for me. Like they did in the 1970's with "lunch pail parts".

And I agree with all of you, they should be black and not grey. It doesn't blend that well at all with the black Shelby rims.

I guess I'll keep looking... I just didn't think something this basic would be so hard to find a direct replacement.

Rob, I would be willing to bet that Ford gets these weights from different suppliers, no different than the dealers. What you have on your car may not be whats I mine. If you really, really have to have the same weights on all four wheels replace them all with black ones. Problem solved..

I feel like even if you somehow managed to get some from the factory there's a pretty good chance they would not match what you have.

They are likely hard to find exact matches for because most people don't really care about something that's as hard to see as wheel weights. As long as the wheels are smoothly balanced, well they're doing their job.

I think the best suggestion so far has been to just replace the weights on all 4 wheels with matching ones. The downside of that though is the residue is a SOB to get off.

Agreed. That may be the only route to get them to match. I would rather not have to remove and re-balance all 4 wheels just for the weights. Sadly, it seems like the easier solution.

I'll keep digging and see if I can come up with another supplier that can get these exact weights.

One thing to consider. You are buying a FE 5 weight. You may see a picture that is perfect but there is no guarantee that you will get exactly what was pictured. Dave is right, most people, probably 99.99%, don't give a darn about wheel weights. But then there is that 0.01%, like you. :cwl::crackup::like:

Good luck!

Replace existing weights with black ones; wheels would look better, and all weights would match (as noted). As a side note, I thought I was anal, but this takes it to another zip code. Ha ha.

Best to get all the wheels rebalanced sure you can just throw on a wheel weight but without the machine you can’t tell if it’s properly balanced. If you really want a clean look there’s the weights that sort of clip in between the rim and tire and those would be an even cleaner look but it could scratch the interior lip of the wheel which is the only downside.

Pop by an Infiniti dealer. Those are the exact same weights they used to balance the rims on my FX.
