Does this type of X pipe add any turbulence or back pressure?

I see that eddying in several areas.
The X-pipe in the picture might help on a Windsor 302 or 351 that stops breathing around 4500 RPMs.
Unless the X-pipe waist has an area equal to 4.0" OD tube as far as I see things it's a restriction with anything less.

For reference CORSA's Double X waist cross section area equals a bit more than 4.0" OD tube size but now we're talking a Sweep style X-pipe bend that will mitigate most gas flow eddying unlike the X-pipe pictured.

@engineermike well I put my Stainless Bro’s muffler to the test over the last 6 months and this is what happened finally !🤣

Hmm... I bought some Magnaflow bottle resonators that would honestly install significantly easier because the SB was on backorder. The SB showed up a few days ago and I still haven't installed anything. This has me leaning towards the magnaflows. I honestly expected better out of the SB.

I can’t disagree with you on that… but I will say it takes a lot of abuse from me so. 🤷‍♂️ My shop is gonna just weld it back up hopefully and go from there.

I wonder why SB isn’t using lap joint style end caps at the main body transition.
I can see how vibration and exhaust pulse frequencies would fatigue the buttweld joint.
Proshop, do you have a full size on size 3.0” H crossover before the SB dual/dual ?

Greg no I have a full size 3” X pipe after the SB. There is another guy on the forums that had the same exact problem with his SB and that’s what helped lead me to finding where the issue was. I’m pretty sure I know why it did it also…

please share your findings as I have one waiting to be installed and do not want it to suffer the same fate

Crossover after the SB is an interesting placement.
Only other thing is static weight of the exhaust system stressing the buttwelds during heat cycles.

I was a little taken back when I saw the X after the muffler. I think my shop did it that way due to space limitations either way it works well other than the exhaust leak I have at the middle of the car now.

The crossover before the SB resonator will significantly reduce the exhaust gas pluses and frequencies into the SB resonator. And w/o Cats your resonator is taking a real beating.
As far as compromised welds that’s from welding thin wall 300 series stainless without an Argon backpurge.

I’ve considered taking the resonator off just hate wasting money but if it is taking a beating like you say then it will probably happen again.

You should consider a size on size 3.0” or at minimum 2.75” H crossover before the SB resonator. The H style crossover is the most compact design in length plus IMO will flow the highest CFM vs. X style.
