Nobody will install an exhaust as good as the car owner because most workers are just there for a paycheck. Keep that in mind when looking around for a shop.
You are absolutely right

Sounds like the installer was lazy as hell. if they didn’t use U-clamps then they can be adjusted with no problem. Maybe try contacting the manager and telling him what his installer said and then request that it be redone correctly.
I did talk the owner who was doing the installation with one of his worker. That is why I will never go back there. It’s not that bad off center but it is off if you look right up close. From far away you can’t tell, but I am ocd about it

As you should be. If you have some ramps, back up onto them and thst should give you enough clearance to undo what they did and readjust it yourself. I’d also take pics of it showing how bad of a job that they did. Use a tape measure If you have to. Finally, post it on social media and tell them you’ll only take it down after they readjust your exhaust.

I was charged an hour and a half for labor at $90/hr at my dealer. Bought the exhaust through their Parts department.

<I don't know what Patty's are but autocorrect is a ***ch>
I took my 18 ecoboost mustang to local shop asked how much, he put it in air laid out the MBRP catback then asked when do i want to get it done i said now if possible he thought about it and said 2.5 hrs $300.
I said no thanks called another shop when i got home quoted me 1hr $100 or little more depending on added work on support bracket for a vert. Pays to shop around.
At $300 id try and do it myself for sure. At $100 id be a fool to pull out the jack and stands and go it alone in my sloped driveway.

When people give you a high price, it usually means one of two things. They either don't want the work or the hassle or they think they can take advantage of you.

I bought the stands and jack to work on my BMW and didnt get around to using them as i decided to buy this Mustang instead. Mainly cuz i aint no mechanic and the BMW needed some service and belts replaced. So it would be nice to get some use of the stuff.

I did mine on the hottest most humid day of the summer and my body afterwards does not agree with it being a cake walk.

Whenever a guy tackles any mod on his car, he must keep telling himself what the guy on CJ Pony Parts always says: “You’ll be back on the road in no time!” Maybe, if we say it with the right tone, the parts might even install themselves for us.

It's basically 3 pieces, you drop your pipes and reinstall the new ones.

If Midas charges more than 75 I'd laugh and walk.

Honestly alignment with these cars is pretty straightforward, there's only a few things you can do and it mostly involves rotating the midpipe or the axle back on the mid pipe. In my case I installed it myself but couldn't get the clamps to actually seal, so I found a shop that aligned it well, cinched it down, then threw some tack welds at the joints so nothing would ever move. $53 was definitely worth it.

  • I paid $200 to have a shop install an xpipe and two flowmasters on my 15 GT.3 months later On the same car they installed a Corsa catback for $400. that was pricey For a clamp on system. I sold the 15 with exhaust already on because I didn’t want o pay to have it removed.

  • On my 19 GT I installed a Borla catback with my son in our driveway last year. Because I sold the 19 I just removed the same exhaust with the help of my neighbor in the same driveway. I would have paid between $250 to $300 if I had the shop do the 19 only because of the electrical harness from the active exhaust needs ”tlc” when installing/removing.

I installed my catback on my 2017 over my lunch break at work took about 45 minutes. The s550 catback is ridiculously easy to remove and replace. It's the header install on these cars that is a monster. As far as centering the pipes goes most of these systems have the hangers welded in place and aren't real adjustable I had to slightly bend one of the hangers on mine go center the tip up in the bumper cutout
