So you've bought a brand new complete exhaust system. You don't want to weld it because you might want to get up in there one day. How do you keep it from coming loose?

Most full exhausts will have the required clamps and bolts no cutting or welding needed unless you do something custom that isn't designed to fit as is.

Band clamps with kit don't hold. Maybe I'm the odd man out.

Do any full exhausts require welding everything together? My ARH kit uses slip joints for every connection and once tightened are rock solid and do not leak. I was under the impression every company did that, or used bolted flanges like Kooks or Corsa.

How about stop throwing out generics and reference a brand? I'm on my second Borla S type, with pipe that slides inside another piece, and then ratchets down with a clamp and impact. The first was on 24 months, NO issues. The second has been on the stang for 8 months, NO issues.

The point with the better brands is not to have to weld them.

Slip joints with band clamps are not holding even after the use of impact wrench

It will not matter if you Weld the entire exhaust together. You have the headers and other then that there are only 4 bolts holding the complete exhaust in the car and the whole thing comes right out no problem

I guess you're right. Disconnect it from the headers and work it off the hangers

Tack weld, so its going to hold, and not hard at all to grind off later.

I had no luck with clamps at the axleback, there's just so much leverage there trying to twist it.

Go to AutoZone or Advanced Auto or Pep Boys and buy heavy duty U-style clamps. They work very well and are much more effective than band clamps.
