Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2018 Mustang GT, whenever im going 80+ mph and I roll the drivers side window down and up again, I get a ton of wind noise, even though the window is fully up. When I come to a stop however and open and close the door to let the car roll the window up the 1 inch or whatever and start going 80+ again, the wind noise disappears? Anyone else ever experienced this?

The passenger side window gets no wind noise at all when i roll the windows down and up again.... It stays quiet like it's supposed to

I experienced a similar wind noise event.
The final solution was to pull the door panel and readjust the window.
Either the dealer or a quality body shop can perform this correction.
The window needs just a bit more lift to tuck up and press against the weather strip.

Generally the window rolls all the way up and indexes to the stop point then comes down to break vacuum. See if the computer is commanding a roll down after indexing.

I have never experienced this before but it sounds like a software bug. I would unhook the battery for 30 mins and see if that fixed it.
Thanks, i'll give it a try

I've been suspecting the same thing, if the battery trick doesnt do it, i'll try readjusting it myself

I attempted the battery disconnect and pinch protection reset several times with no improvements.
I could lift the outer edge of the weather strip and visually see how the edge of the window glass wasn’t seating correctly.
Good luck to you, my gut says you’ll be pulling the door panel to get this corrected.

That’s what I took out of it but you are probably right.
Yup, I though the same at first but started to think about cabin pressure and outside airflow at 80mph. That could be the difference in getting the glass to seal at 80 mph vs. no vehicle movement where the pressure differential is equal on both sides of the glass.

This could be the case but he says there is no wind noise until he rolls the window down the first time on a drive. After parking the issue goes away(?) until the next drive.

Yea not necessarily parking, but just opening and closing the door so the car automatically rolls the window up the last inch. Then it seals properly and i get minimal wind noise when going 80+.

Anyways guys i took off the door panel, took me a good 1.5-2 hours with some scratch marks and although the gap has decreased a decent amount im still getting a bit wind noise from the rear of the glass, so far i only pushed the window up but looks like i'll have to push it backwards as well which i'll do tomorrow.

Yup, exactly what we had to do to correct mine.
Up & Back.
Took a few try’s but we got it sealed up 100%.
I’m thinking we both must have Friday afternoon builds at Flat Rock assembly line……… 🍻 😵

There's a few threads I have seen on here regarding the Driver's side window sticking upon opening or closing the door. I *think* the seal may be an issue for some vehicles. I would definitely take 10 mins of your time to read the below, it could benefit some folks.

On my prior 2016 S550 where the door window seal meets the edge of the headliner - nearly 80% of that edge of the seal was stuck UNDER the headliner edging! This is an improper install.

The seal is not supposed to be under the headliner edge, it's supposed to be OVER lapping the headliner edge to create a complete seal around the door frame, top of window and roof line.

I don't have pics, because it was a "quick fix" - but everyone should check their Driver side door seal. If the rubber is curled or tucked under the edge of the headliner:

1) Using your fingers OR a flat edge (like a Credit/Debit card etc), start at a section where the seal is properly seated over the edge of the headliner. Gradually work the card (or fingers) under the seal. Then move in the direction of the turned under section - this will safely pull the seal out from under the headliner and get it so that the edge of the seal now overlaps the headliner (instead of being stuck between the roof edge and headliner edge).

2) After performing step 1 above - standing outside of the vehicle, starting at one end of the seal, FIRMLY press the entire length of the seal back onto and against the body of the car. This will ensure that the seal is installed properly and is pressed properly onto the edge of the door frame. Check the seal again to make sure it remained over the edge of the headliner.

I would check the passenger side too - the passenger side on my vehicle was fine and properly installed.

Don't worry if the seal is not laying perfectly flat after the fix - during warm weather and from being corrected, the edge of the seal will flatten out.

The door to body gaps can cause wind noise at certain speeds too, depending on how out of spec the body gaps are on the vehicle. This below thread has all of the alignment specs attached within it if you want to try and adjust yourself (as others have), or a Dealer can do it.
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...watch-out-for-tips-with-a-happy-ending.19261/

Another source of wind noise while driving is the mirror caps. Make sure the mirro caps are snug, if not as you are driving the gap between the cap and the mirror, although very, very small, it creates wind noise at speed.

The wind “wafting” or “throbbing” is common on many modern day vehicles due to aerodynamics. It sucks and there’s tons of complaints about it on many auto forums. It’s explained here:

Hey guys sorry for the late reply, I've been busy as of late. I've now taken the door panel off 3 times and adjusted the window countless of times to no avail. Heres a before and after pic of the adjustment, the sound has just changed from actual wind noise to howling/whistling noise. Im starting to suspect its not the window thats the problem but the weatherstrip that needs to be replaced.

First thing I notice is that the gap between the door glass and the B pillar is A) huge and B) not parallel.

I don’t know who’s is closer to spec, but here’s mine for comparison :

It measures approx 10mm and there is less than 1mm of runout from top to bottom.

I’m not sure what this side of the ruler is for ( :giggle: ) but maybe this helps :

The after pic is looking a lot better but it still isn’t right.
I’ve been through this exact issue. There’s room for more adjustment judging by the photo.
Greg you are 100% right, however as I suspected the problem in my specific case, is not the window but the rubber seal. I went ahead and pulled out the corner of the rubber seal and added 10$ 3M weatherstrips in between the rubber seal and B-pillar to push out the rubber seal against the glass, and as expected the corner of the rubber seal is now making full contact with the glass (which it doesnt do on pic 3) and the wind noise has gone away. This is a temporary fix as I'll most likely go ahead and order a new upper weatherstrip/rubber seal in the near future. Thanks for all your input.

Man, looking at your rubber seal made me even more adamant in the fact that I need to purchase a new rubber seal lol. Yours is looking solid, mines all messed up and soft.
