Had to change a wheel today and always check the 3 & 9 and 12 & 6 positions o see if anything is bad. My passenger side with minimal effort easily moves a GOOD amount at the 3 & 9 maybe 3/8th if not more. Definitely not normal.. With the wheel off I can hear and see the whole hub move a bit but cant identify where its loose. So I know for sure something is bad. Tugging on the tie rod it seems solid. The wiggle room seems to be on the rear side but cant see any noticeable play at the ball joints.
I just changed the rear lower ball joints (forget the exact name) last year because of bad creaking noises and replaced with steeda's PP version so if anything the wheels should be taught with less play.
Is the second link also prone to go bad? (Think its called lateral link) I have no noises this time but the play is definitely not normal especially after installing steeda's links it should be stiffer.
Ive had tie rods go bad before and dont think this is that. Usually they're easy to spot and hear when bad and the paly is on the front side of the knuckle.
Really thinking the links are shot already. I just hit 50k miles.
Btw - what is the name of the tool used to pop those joints out of the knuckle? For some reason it was not avail for rental locally and the ones I did find were not long enough for this stud. Was hard to find one before and not sure where I got it from nor where it went lol. Have a feeling Harbor Freight has it? Front end service kit but it has to be a certain length.
