Mines a big jewelry queen. My mother in law buys a bunch of crap off eBay and has me pay her for it and then I give it to her. We have money, but she just wants to pay down bills and stuff. I had a lot of my mods financed into the car. Whipple, supporting mods, exhaust etc. I'm working on the little stuff now.

Form a plan, prioritize the mods that are most important to you and work in stages. Don't just buy mods because they look neat but identify the areas of the car/driving experience you wish to improve. Show that you put thought into your purchases.

It's all about if it makes sense financially in the end. My wife would care a LOT if I was buying car parts and we didn't have everything else handled. Otherwise, she has known for the almost decade we've been together that this is a hobby/addiction of mine and won't be changing.

She just asks to keep parts that are awaiting install out of our future baby's room. Fair request in my opinion haha.

All in all, should be a conversation, but should be obvious. We as a unit either can or can't afford luxuries and if things changed, the car would be first on the chopping block.

If I want something, I work extra for it by taking extra shifts at work.

That way my expenditure is justified...if I'm willing to put in the extra work, then I get the rewards. Of course not 100% of that extra money is spent on car related purchases, some is put away for a rainy day.

That is how I deal with my wife and car purchases. Generally speaking she is OK with anything under $500...above that we need to have 'a talk' haha

Good to see that there's some good wives out there, lol. Sucks seeing the typical "wut? roush exhaust? gotta ask my wife 1st" responses.

I'm only 24 and just got out of a 5 year relationship where I couldn't do shit with my own money because of her. I'd still be in my 08 charger if I didn't gtfo :headbang:

Not married obviously but I'd hope that as long as bills are paid, savings account is growing, I get her a nice gift every once in awhile, then everything else should be good.

Separate account just for my OT money to go into that she can't control or see how much is in there. Lets just say its gone from full to empty very quickly some times.
