so they have front and rear parking sensors - as well as the reversing camera?? (I've looked at photos of the Australian models and haven't seen the tell-tale little round sensors in the bumpers, and it wasn't mentioned on the window sticker, so I'd given-up hope).

I see you've actually got your car, so you ought to know :)

thanks

Ian
It has rear sensors and camera but no front ones, don't take too much notice of the window sticker as export models do not necessarily follow what is listed on there.

:focus: DRL plz
Waiting for Diode Dynamics to produce led boards with brighter leds that are more suited to being used and DRLs. Should be available in the next couple of weeks, then there should be some getting installed.

that is interesting - have you seen the DD lights and decided they aren't up to the normal DRL brightness standards?

DD claim theirs are brighter than the stock LEDs. Gnome wants brighter, so they can be used as headlights. I'd be cautious about whether you may lose the tri-bar effect if you went much brighter, and also whether the diffuser is thick enough so that you don't get the spotlight effect from the LEDs mounted behind it.

There's really not much required - I reckon you could make up your own LED strips using whatever surface mount LEDs you want and mount them in there.

Hi Frozen, the above is almost correct. The Diode Dynamics boards are pretty dim as standard as they were only designed for cosmetic effect, in the UK they found they were not bright enough to be used as DRLs, Cannigia has some that have two settings in them, bright for day use as a DRL and then dim for use as a parker when the headlights are on. DD are now making a dual brightness board as well. My intention is this;
Remove the existing DRL bulb from the fog light and use the bright setting of the led board as a DRL for day use. Then take out the parking light bulb next to the blinker and connect that to the led on low brightness as a parking light.

If all works as I have it in my mind, I end up with bright tribar leds as a the DRL, then when you turn on the headlights they drop back to low brightness. I don't think that during the day the three bright leds will wash together like they would at night.

This also means that when you unlock the car or open the door the tribars will light up (in dim mode) up just as the US spec cars do and for ours the parkers do it instead.
Other option is to have the leds bright for DRL, dim mode as parking lights and then off altogether when the headlights are on, will probably need to drop a relay in to do that depending on how the DD controller is setup.

Will depend on what they look like when I fit them up.

Gnome So are we still waiting for the upcoming DD "brighter" kit?

Only 20 - 25 or so odd days till delivery for me. Gotta plan something soon.

There's just 5 "must be done" mods on day 1 (for me). DRL, decklid, exhaust, wheels/springs.

Everything else I'll wait for a couple weeks.

Haha well maybe I'll split the DRL to the next day since a road trip is required. Everything else can be done at home :D

Haha... I'll keep that in mind. Never been to Wollongong actually.

Unfortunately when I get the lights done, it'll be just me, the lights, and another car. As he doesn't do the headlamp removal (from the bumper).

Rotten thing about that.....more than likely highly illegal to drive around without the bumper on.

That is going to be the real pain for some who have waited for an eternity for their cars, only to have to park them up for a time whilst they are modded.:frusty:
