Anyone who has messed with the stock radio have any suggestions to make this thing sound better (without replacing the speakers)? I'm blown away how crappy the stock stereo system is in the premium GT. I mean... you have to turn this thing 3/4 way up to even hear it. Awful!

Turn the speed sensitive volume up all the way to 7. It makes a huge difference.

I hear a lot of people complain about the stereo not being loud. I've had no issues with mine and its below half way. Maybe because I don't blast the radio or Idk?

I guess I haven't tried anything yet other than satellite radio... maybe it comes in a little soft.

The radio is quiet, but loud enough. My problem with it is the EQ/sound. Can't find a way to get any punch or drive from it; it just sounds thin with no bottom end to it. I listen primarily to hard rock & my EQ is full bass, mid & treble 1-2 notches above halfway.

Mine is a base GT and sounds fantastic at:

Treble -2
Mid +2
Bass +5 to +max (to taste)

Sirius by nature sounds terrible. It's equivalent to 64-96kbit mp3.

I know, you don't want to replace speakers... just letting you know I studied this on this site and others before deciding to replace my back speakers only.

Replacement of the back speakers only works wonders... but I have the shaker pro system.

I have been cruising around with my phone playing all my music, and the stereo system is plenty loud, it's not as crisp and nice as the system in my audi, but it's certainly passable. I have had no issues with how loud it is, I only run to like 30-40% of it's max, and even doing 80 I have no feelings of it being too low.

No way to make it sound better without changing the speakers. Sirius has the worst sound quality / FM, bluetooth and USB are ok. I replaced my rear speakers with JBL GTO638's and added a small powered sub in the trunk. Easy and it sounds worlds better. The JBL's come with a mounting bracket so they bolt right up. No cutting required.

Thank you.... :hail:

Weirdly, this has improved audio fidelity in my 12-speaker Shaker. Overall loudness is improved (even at stand still), but I'm still fussing with mids most of the time.

Could those JBL speakers be used to replace the stock rear speakers without adding a sub and would that make any noticeable improvement?

Anyone else just replace only the rear speakers and got some better sound out of the stock stereo?

Yes. I replaced just the rears with JBL GTO 629s. I chose them because they have a high sensitivity rating, 92 or 93 db, which generates more volume from the same signal. It definitely woke up the system and sounds better. There is still no punch for the bass. I may be looking at a small powered sub also.

Guess it depends on how you define "better sound".

These will even out the highs and lows... don't look for much bass here. They are only 6.5 speakers...
