Im pretty sure the GT350 won't be sold in the EU ? And for V8 and 0-60 numbers the Mustang is lacking. Many hot (hyper) hatches match the car in terms of 0-60 while being the same price and mostly better build quality. So it might be smart for Ford too boost the power for sales.

Can never beat the looks though :)
My car with sticky performance tires and dropping the clutch at 3800 RPM hits the 60 at 4 flat. Idk of any hatch that can do that.

Are the European Mustangs built in US and shipped across? Here in the US the Mustang is a relatively cheap car and a performance bargain. For instance, a Golf GTI that makes 220 HP costs within $3k of the 435 HP Mustang GT.

Is it the same in Europe, or are Mustangs expensive there?

For as far as I have been able to gather the GT does about 4.4 at its best. While EU times are 0-62 (0-100 kph) so the GT does it in 4.8.

Not sure how far from stock sticky performance tires are, but that 4.0 seems like a bit of a stretch for an average 0-60 time.

I was just illustrating that for having twice the cylinders and twice the fuel consumption its not that far off.

Using German pricing here as for some countries including the Netherlands taxes mess everything up.

Base Golf GTI vs base Mustang GT is a 13k difference is most countries. Mustang being 13k more expensive.

Vs the Golf R the Mustang is 3k more expensive.

Don't know why you'd get worked up over another country getting a more powerful version. It happens to every manufacturer that exports cars, different markets require different specs and sometimes their better or worse than the home market.

Hell us Aussies have been sending some pretty good stuff to you guys in the last few years and they always up the spec over our home released stuff.

The Mustangs will be a little dearer in export markets purely from those export costs and a fat little profit since they'll be a much rarer beast.

Take for instance here we are only getting EB and GT in PP for 45k and 55k not including on road costs, mine was approx 62k.

Regarding the GT350/R, We've been told it definitely won't be made in RHD so won't be getting them, pity.

This ^^^

People also have to remember that, because the Mustang is an export car that isn't being built domestically, it ends up rather expensive. At the present exchange rate I'll be paying $52,500 for my GT.

So I better get the best GT possible and then some.

MAYBE because they can't sell the GT350 in Europe due to the body not meeting euro safety requirements they are going to sell the FP GT350 motor in the Euro GT?
The GT350 will be totally legal - its just not financially viable for Ford to homogenise it for our Market, given its a specialist model.

The article is just lazy, inaccurate reporting. He states the convertible is "around £1500 more expensive" when it is actually £4,000 more. He is confusing the auto option...

Ford UK have a very simple pricing policy;
EB fastback is £29,995.
Convertible is £4,000.
V8 is £4,000.
Auto is £1,500.
Custom pack is £1,795.
Metallics are £595; TY is £795. Oxford white is £250.

only 3 standalone options; sat nav/shaker pro, climate seats & reverse parking sensors

These prices include 20% VAT (our sales tax). £1 = $1.55 or so...

The RHD Mustangs are built in Dearborn and then exported to other markets.

I am sorry but I heard from an managing engineer who works on the GT350 that it is NOT ever going to be sold in Europe because the fenders are too low and it doesn't meet some pedestrian safety standards.

So what do Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Audi, etc, do? That is just a small list that comes to mind that have low slung sports cars with low fenders and engines in the front.
I'm pretty sure that's not the real reason.

I wouldn't say it's never going to come to Europe. Probably not for the first couple of years, but if sales slow down in the states, I wouldn't put it past ford to export a limited number to Europe. Maybe not RHD, but there is always the possibility of sending some to Europe.
