Engine oil problem

Hi! Forum

I changed oil when my car hit 1000miles.

its 3600 miles now and engine oil change required message pop up yesterday.

any idea?

No way you re set it. You might think you did but you did not. Or you drove that car at red line everywhere and drove less then 5 miles each time you drove it lol.

The PCM monitors engine oil temperature, engine RPM, ambient temperature, coolant temperature, load, operating hours, and other inputs to determine the oil change interval.

How have you been driving the car? Lots of cold starts, high RPM use, and short trips?

And another important variable is calendar time. No matter how you drive it, it will bottom out after 12 months, oil changes are mileage and calendar time change items.
Please refer to your owners manual for the details.

I would not listen to a computer ,it does not take oil samples as you drive
nor does any cars onboard ECU,MFGs would like us to believe that the car will tell you when to change your oil as if your car was a lab on wheels..

First thing I would do is look at the oil on the stick is it low ?fithy?
if all looks normal I would also reset my computer and change the oil when
the manual suggests ,if your really nervous call the dealer he can look deeper.

Are you sure you got it reset? You have to continue holding the button until it finishes resetting.

Thats weird, what is the outcome of this problem? Was oil low or computer problem?
