Hey All,
I just bought me a 2016 GT and I have 2200 miles on it. I was pretty easy on it the first 1000 miles but have put my foot in it a few times since. Well I checked the oil on it the other day and I have had to add two quarts. I kno the engine will use some on breakin... But two quarts?? Would this explain why I had alot of valve tick on high revs? Has anyone else had this problem? I asked the dealer to check the oil when I had it in last week and he told me the oil should be fine. I did check it two weeks after I bought it and it was fine then. The loss came between then and the four weeks following when I had to add it this week. I don't think this is normal. Am I wrong?

Wow, that is a lot of oil getting used on a new engine.
I am almost 1000 miles and I don't see any oil loss. I have not got over 4000rpm yet.
Did you warm up by idling a lot?

There was a thread here where a GT had a loose valve cover bolt and had oil all over his engine. He went to the stealership and got a new gasket and had the other bolts checked. Also, check the oil filter and oil drain bolt for tightness. Is your engine nice and dry?

Two quarts is far too much. You need to head back to the stealership if you can't account for the oil. I broke in my GT very hard and my engine doesn't burn any oil, which is why I tell you this.

Keep an eye on it. I have a feeling they just didn't put enough in when they handed you the keys.

Thanks guys, yea the engine and the ground are both dry. Which hopefully leads me to think they didnt put enough in at the dealer. But I'm still gonna take it back with my receipt for the oil and let them check it out. Even tho I got the warranty to fall back on I want to make sure theres no permanent damage.
