Rebuilt title = no warranty. Plus as somebody else said, with no maintenance history, it'd be an easy way out for Ford and dealers anyway. VERY important to keep all receipts, especially with DIY services. Good luck OP.

A quick ebay search will show used 2nd gen coyotes starting around $3500 and a remanufactured one for around $6000.
Don't know how much you're into the car for but if you're going to keep it you're going to have to put some more into it.

I mean yes, but the heads are different on both of those engines so you'll have to swap yours and all the other hardware and such

This noise is not good news. I don't know if the oil pan can be dropped with the engine in the car. But if you can drop the pan that is where I would start. It could be anything, a broken chain tensioner, a rod bearing going south, who knows. I wish you well my friend.
