Hello everyone! Hope you all are safe and well.

I have noted this sound since I bought the car brand new. It has 5k miles. Went to see my dad today and he was like it sounds like a diesel lol.

It sounds like a valve or DI clatter? Here is a video I uploaded on youtube.

Car runs great! Is this a normal character of these engines?

Been a mechanic since 1971 that noise sounds lik a wrist pin rattle BUT I got used to it. I've given up fighting it.

FFS.

It's Direct Injection. It's loud. It clatters. It comes & goes as the engine moves back & forth between DI and PFI.

We really need to kill this crap. It's so exhausting when folks keep freaking out over things and sounds that are perfectly normal.

There will always be someone that just bought a 18-19 and will be asking about the tick. Even if it was made a sticky someone would still ask about it...

It's when people that have been members here for years keep parroting the same thing, that grinds my gears. It's what perpetuates the bad info.

Omar, if you go to your local dealer they will tell you it's normal. There are also many many thread about this and that some people will tell you they use ceratek in there oil and that has helped quiten it down.

Not on 2018+ cars. Not on GEN3s.

It's the DI.

Thanks buddy. I just wanted to make sure it's nothing to worry about because I was not able to compare it to another Stang. I'm no even worried. I'm gonna enjoy my car.

I think most of the new owners of Mustangs will ask the question. :) I didn't ask because I had read all the threads but I did post a video of mine and it's non-issue ticking.
