I owned a V6 before I bought my 2011 GT. I liked it a lot. It would chirp the tires hard when shifting to 3rd under hard acceleration at ~60 mph. I don't see anything wrong with buying the V6 model. Seat of the pants it's not that far off of the 80s and 90s V8 Mustangs that everyone liked back in the day.

I'm a fanatic and I want more. I'm not going to say there's anything wrong with the 6, though. It's a great engine and the car's very fun to drive with one.

I haven't driven a new ECOboost, so I won't comment on that.

I've decided on what I'm going to do now. If orders can still be made come spring/summer 2015, or it's still available next year(2016), I'm gonna try to get myself a manual V6 with 3.55 gears.

You'll like it. The gears will help it. Mine had the 3.31s and it definitely could use a little more gear.

I thought the video was pretty funny. Offensive but very funny at the same time.

I'd be all over a V6 if I knew I could aftermarket upgrade the toggles, heated/cooled front seats and MFT.

I know many adults through a range of age with crippling debt. The one's I know have college degrees and steady incomes. Yet they live paycheck to paycheck because they choose to live outside of their means. If given the choice of paying student loans into my 40s and 50s so I could drive a nice car when I'm in my 20s, I'd pass every time.
Well it depends on how much $EX you got with that car in your 20s...lol many guys would trade for that also.

Here's the simple test to determine which engine is right for you:

Find one of the posts where someone goes into full bean counter mode with gas mileage, interest rates, tire wear, environmental impact, etc...

If you tune out before getting to the end, go for the GT. You won't regret it.

If the logical arguments speak to you, buy the ecoboost or the V6 based on whichever math worked out for your situation. You won't regret it.

I'll personally go for the highest powered manual every time because my monkey brain gets to do the driving.

To answer the OP, yes - every Mustang owner will get my wave on the street because they love their car. The ecoboost and V6 owners will get my appreciation because I realize in this day and age if it weren't for those engines there would not be a V8 that I could have so much fun with. It's part of the Mustang heritage that there's one for everyone.

Oh please. There are plenty of none V8 cars that can be used as performance cars. V8 is not the end all be all anymore. My GTI, before I put it back to stock, would have smoked a 2015 GT on the drag strip and that is with less than $3,500 with of work done.
Not with a warantee.

Does the sixxer's automatic transmission always start in 1st or does it use 2nd by default? Sorry for having to ask such a basic question, but the last AT car I owned only had 3 speeds and the last one I drove had only 4. In 2nd, all you've got is something like 2.73 x 2.34, and yeah, that would leave pretty softly.

Out of curiosity, how well did your sixxer pull once you got it rolling? Seems to me if you're willing to use the entire rev range it wouldn't have been all that bad . . . at around 300 HP it'd probably give my 4.6L a pretty good run.

It's starts in first. I manually started it in first, no difference over letting it do it itself (other than not shifting until you do it). Once well over 3000 RPM it pulled like a monster. I think with a 3.55/3.73 gear, it would be just fine, but reports knock the mileage down 2-3 with those gears and thats just puts it too close to the GT. That and even if I let Ford put the gear in, you need aftermarket programmer for any ratio that was not factory
(anything over 3.31). That kills warantee (in my eyes), even with no engine tune.

At least they upped it to a 3.15 this year, but the lower torque and slightly added weight might make it a wash. That six with a 3.73/4.10 and an 8 speed auto with a .50 top gear would be an awsome package. Would get equal highway mil and would probably help city, as it would need much less throttle for mildy spirited/slightly aggressive keeping up with traffic type driving. IE, getting to other side of an intersection ahead of the 80 year old grandpa that is pissed you want to drive faster than 10 under and decides to give you a run at the next light, for no other reason than they are old and grumpy. That V-6 stang would have to be floored in that situation...

Thats a good (and very cheap) plan. The manual and gears should make it a whole different car.

This ↑↑↑ .

Three of the last five cars we've bought were manual transmission V6 equipped. It really doesn't matter what they were because all three were chosen with 'fun to drive' as a high priority and they did not disappoint. That 3.7L Mustang motor is anywhere from 75 to 150 HP stronger than what came in those, which only makes a good choice better.

Nothing sounds as good as a V8! I don't look down on the EB or v6 mustangs, but it does look funny having a 4 cylinder in the engine bay. However, both put out horsepower close to what my Shelby GT did in 2007.
