All I did was use the comparison feature of the website provided. I don't know how they break it up, but it does compare apples to apples.
They show how much it would cost compared to the average car. The gt was 2500 more and the eb was 250 less, thus the 2750.
BTW, from what I've seen turbo cars gain a lot more than NA cars with basic mods. I think I saw one tuner claim 420 ft-lb torque with just a tune...
Yeah; that's over a five year period. And modding the car will kill fuel economy (unless you give it a tune to add fuel economy).

Well, yeah! :headbonk:

But in all seriousness, is it even possible for a car to depreciate that much so quickly?
Look at the lease residuals if you want to see estimates for the depreciation. It has been my anecdotal experience that many Mustang lose about 20% of the value in year one, 35% by year two. Of course, there are other factors that affect value (mileage, overall condition, desirability of the car, time of year), but I've used these numbers as rough estimates.

Oh please. There are plenty of none V8 cars that can be used as performance cars. V8 is not the end all be all anymore. My GTI, before I put it back to stock, would have smoked a 2015 GT on the drag strip and that is with less than $3,500 with of work done.
Define "smoked". Genuinely curious.

Naw, if you keep your foot out of it, you won't necessarily lose fuel economy with a modded vehicle - quite often the opposite is true.

A proper tune will often give you better fuel economy (again, if you just drive normally). Freer flowing exhaust will also usually give you a bit of a bump in hp and mpg.

For comparison, back in 2011 when they brought back the 5.0 I went the same route. Around Apri/May, I bought a used 2011 with a few thousand miles for 4k less than a new one. Not a great deal, but I was in a hurry and wanted that specific car since it already had aftermarket wheels, tune, exhaust, intake. I probably could have found a cheaper stock car, but was pretty happy with the value I got out of the mods. I might end up doing the same thing and buying something slightly used in 3-6 months.

Honestly, I know if I drove exactly what I wanted, I'd take it home. For some reason Race Red isn't a popular color and it seems hard to find with the right options.

Ok smoked was a little much lol...12.2-12.4 in 1/4 mile with the parts I had.

EVERY muscle car that tried to egg me on on the highway was shocked at what a GTI could do when built with the right parts :)

It was a fun car but time to move on...just too bad I bought the ecoboost so my new American sports car will be slower than my German hot hatch

But I am very excited to be part of this "newish" line up from Ford

Personally I think anyone who scoffs at someone else's taste in cars has issues of their own. I am buying a 2015 GT Premium Convertible to replace my 2005 gt Premium Convertible. I love the roar and feel of a V8 in the mustang. I test drove both the V6 and EB and they aren't slouches either, I just prefer the V8. Get the one YOU want to drive. Who cares what anyone else says or thinks... I mean unless they are going to pay for it
This. When both the EB and V6 have more HP than my '02 GT did, I can only be impressed, because they are both nothing to be scoffed at. Great cars. Test each of them out and get whichever one makes you smile the most without breaking the bank.

Personally, I'm just as anxious to see what enthusiasts can squeeze out of their EB and V6 models just as much as the GT's.

Screw what anyone else says. It's still a Mustang.

After I did that a couple of times way-back-when, I really did completely lose interest and haven't lit 'em up like that since in any car. Checked it off my bucket list before such a thing even had the name. These days, the amount of rubber you'd throw away in even a "little" two wheel burnout might represent a whole 20 minute session's worth of tire wear on all four at my next track day.

I do drive quite enthusiastically at times, obviously very enthusiastically in the right environment, just that it's not in the showoff/streetrace/dragrace sense. It's fine to know you have a car that can do a burnout, but that doesn't mean there is any need to prove it.

The reason I brought it up wasn't for a burnout discussion, it was due to the V-6, with an overall first gear ratio of 11.4 (thats like an old 4 speed auto with 4.10ish gears in the rear), not even being able to chirp the tires (indicating doggie low end torque, especially with the tiny tire they have stock).

Even my 4 banger auto mazda6 can get a healthy chirp. Maybe it is the auto trans nannies, but my GT with same tranny will smoke them up the street (actually surpised how much spin on the GT I can get and traction control does not intervene)..........

I bought the Ecoboost. Here's why. Like many of you I bought the car without ever driving yet...ordered 7/11. I was deadset on the 5.0. I do a lot of driving to a mountain cabin and I did this in a lower aspirated version of the Mustang 3.7 liter in a Mazda 6 built at the Flatrock plant. My Mazda killed it. I was able to outrun all kinds of cars. I learned every corner and which ones that said 30 I could take at over 50. I developed a problem with the throttle body on my 269 hp V-6. The dealer walked me over to a brand new 180 hp 4 pot. Needing something to drive I took it up the hill and was stunned how much better I was able to sling it into the corners with the lighter motor. It was a hoot. While I know that the Mazdas is front wheel drive, the the weight over the from tires was so apparent. I do a lot of this kind of driving and the torque and power band of the Ecoboost and the increased handling is brilliant. Thank goodness Ford gave us options..I have a fully loaded Ecoboost Premium PP plus without Nav, 50TH Anniversary, adaptive cruise control. I chose Magnetic with dark saddle interior and this car is a premier canyon racer. I was totally buying the 5.0..make your choice wisely.....
The v6, i4 weigh the same, for what your doing of course the PP is the tie breaker for your envoment and wallet. Sounds like a perfect setup for you. Enjoyed hearing you perspective High 5!

We live in an age of tech...old timers won't let go of the GOTTA HAVE V8 thing and that's fine but don't discount the progress that is being made to allow smaller engine to run as performance cars.

All mustangs are great cars and now that there are 3 models out it makes it even easier for more people to see that as they have more choices now when buying one. The ecoboost is going to bring in a whole new crowd of car guys using this platform that would not have been interested in a mustang before.
GTI on a dragstrip? How did you keep it from going sideways with tourqe steer, and still beat a GT? From a safe distance I'd like to see that, because I know I'm not that good of a driver.

I've had about 20 Mustangs. All of them V-8's. I didn't realize they came any other way.:D

I know many adults through a range of age with crippling debt. The one's I know have college degrees and steady incomes. Yet they live paycheck to paycheck because they choose to live outside of their means. If given the choice of paying student loans into my 40s and 50s so I could drive a nice car when I'm in my 20s, I'd pass every time.

Does the sixxer's automatic transmission always start in 1st or does it use 2nd by default? Sorry for having to ask such a basic question, but the last AT car I owned only had 3 speeds and the last one I drove had only 4. In 2nd, all you've got is something like 2.73 x 2.34, and yeah, that would leave pretty softly.

Out of curiosity, how well did your sixxer pull once you got it rolling? Seems to me if you're willing to use the entire rev range it wouldn't have been all that bad . . . at around 300 HP it'd probably give my 4.6L a pretty good run.
