I owned a V6 before I bought my 2011 GT. I liked it a lot. It would chirp the tires hard when shifting to 3rd under hard acceleration at ~60 mph. I don't see anything wrong with buying the V6 model. Seat of the pants it's not that far off of the 80s and 90s V8 Mustangs that everyone liked back in the day.
I'm a fanatic and I want more. I'm not going to say there's anything wrong with the 6, though. It's a great engine and the car's very fun to drive with one.
I haven't driven a new ECOboost, so I won't comment on that.
