If it still makes the noise, my bet from the location would be timing chain.

Hey guys, have a 2018 Ecoboost, itās been making this weird rattling noise, started today, wasnāt too bad this morning, now after driving all day it sounds like a loud ass tractor. Dunno whatās going on, hopefully someone knows.
Iām about to move to LA for several months atleast, and I really donāt want to sound dramatic, but I have no means of fixing it once Iām in LA and absolutely no funds to pay someone else either. I keep thinking something to do with the fuel system⦠but honestly donāt know. I thought maybe the fan rattling, but it didnāt stop when I turned off the AC and drove it around for a while. So far only consistently gets worse.
Kinda sounds like an exhaust leak or timing chain rattle. If you are unable to diagnose yourself, I would take it to a shop to find out exactly what is causing it.
I have the exact same issue. Did you replace the belt tensioner pulley + idler pulley to fix? Did you replace the alternator?SOLVED!!!

Turns out itās the alternator and the belt tensioner about to go out. No auto parts store or dealership in 250 miles has any of the parts though. Has my head spinning that NOBODY has these parts.
Since they wonāt arrive in time if ordered Iāll have to hope it makes it to SoCal and fix it at a shop there. Though with as much headache as itās given me Iām selling it once itās fixed and decided to go GT! Already test drove some the other day and found some Iām looking to possibly get, probably a used 2020 convertible with Magneride and active exhaust![]()
