About a month ago I ordered a forged short block - short version was it was going to take a long time to get it.
Fast forward I have a 2016 block and crank I am going to build myself. Darton sleeves, Molnar rods already in hand. Looking for piston and comp ratio suggestions. Plan on this motor is for maxing out a D1X on e85 (Goals 1000+ rwhp).
Some minor worked over Gen ll heads on hand already.

im not a builder but from ive seen is the tuners prefer stock compression. 1k whp should be no issue. i would check with your tuner for recommendations.

Stock is fine and should get you to your goal. That's what's in my mpr shortblock and it makes 1krwhp with the whipple. If it's an all out race deal you could consider 11.5 or 12 to 1 with custom cams etc. That will give more ultimate hp, but it will narrow your tuning window and not be as forgiving to any tuning mistakes or fuel related issues. This is assuming you will be running e85 all the time.
