Did you take to a good detailer? Might be worth it. Some of those guys due magic on paint.
I'll check into it. Both guys I went to were at body shops, so they might be looking at perfection instead of 'do your best.'

I also went to body shops for two tiny chips on the hood and they said I needed to scrap the clear bra and paint the whole hood then get a new clear bra. Went to another smaller place and told him the same thing, doesnt have to look like it rolled out of the assembly line just need to cover those chips so it doesnt rust the metal and damage the paint. He free handed the chip with touch up and lightly sanded it to hood level and applied clear. You wouldnt know where it was unless the sun was beaming down and I told you there were touched up chips in the hood....$50 bucks.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Sounds like I just have to find the right shop. Thanks!

Man ! WTF is wrong with people these days ? I know people have always keyed cars etc. but the blatent disregard for other peoples stuff is astonishing. You can't seem to have anything nice these days.

Maybe it a thing to throw stuff at Mustangs. Two weeks ago someone threw a big rock at me while driving through a wooded section of a 4 lane road. No other cars around. Sounded like a gun shot. It did this with glass pieces on the inside of the car.

Luckily it wasn't an inch higher and trashed out my roof.

Some ********** kids did a drive by egging and tried to hit me with an egg and it missed and hit the door of my FX35. Same exact marks left by the shells. The marks are deep and do not buff out. Dr color chip would work well for a quick fix.

Cheapest way would be touch it up. Maybe try Dr. Colorchip? The damage is so small you won't be able to notice.

The location of the car when it was egged, do you know if anyone in the area, or any local business had any video surveillance cams? It could have been captured by someone, which would give you a lead...

When paint is hit by an egg, the result is what you have - the painted surface is damaged beyond a "compound and buff", the shells bust through the clear and the paint right down to the lighter primed surface (which is what you are seeing in the circular "bullseye" marks).

Buffing or compounding will only smooth the surface, unfortunately it won't make the damage go away.

Dr. Colorchip may work - only way to know is purchase a kit and try it out.

So - out of curiosity, was it possibly an 'Ex' who found out their 'Ex' had a visitor?

I didn't see this reply, but it was just street parked in a Milwaukee neighborhood, no businesses around. I don't have any enemies that I know of, and I didn't have this car when I used to live there so I think it was just a random, "That car is shiny, let's get it!" kinda thing.

Anyway, I tried out some Dr. Colorchip. Results are very good for the time and money. It's not perfect because there's a lot to try to build up. This is maybe 7 coats but there is a lot of product left if I want to keep going. The photos make the damage about as noticeable as possible, so it's tougher to notice if you don't look for it. Last two pictures are before the repair.

I live just outside of Milwaukee & I avoid going in there like a plague. It's just out of control.

Ha, I'm moving back down for some more school stuff and actually considering selling/trading already. Kind of a bummer, but so are the recent wheel thefts, car jackings, etc.

Well, fuck. I just saw this thread yesterday evening.

This morning I woke up to find my cars (Mazda 6 and Mustang) had been egged last night.

Fucking kids. I hope their mom dies naked in a shopping mall fountain and that they shit themselves at the funeral.

It broke the paint on the trunk lid. Awesome.

Thanks, assholes. Fuck you.
