Hey guys, I left my car outside last night and when I came back it was egged. Luckily, I washed it shortly after, but it seems like I got a few paint chips from the eggs either being thrown close or really hard, on the trunk lid and below the rear tail light. Any advice/tips on how to fix and correct these? Thanks

I would try a Dr. Colorchip type of thing or check a detailing site such as Autogeek or Meguiar's online and search for chip repair.

Unfortunately there is no real fix for this besides repair and repaint. The shell of the egg fractures the paint. It really sucks that some asshole would do that....

Unfortunately, the impact of the egg broke through the clear coat and created the “bulls eye” impact damage you’re seeing on the bumper cover. The other damage in your other pic, went down to the primer layer...

If I were you, I’d definitely make a Police Report and have it documented. That is body shop damage, and to fix don’t be surprised if it’s in the $2k range.

You should check with your neighbors and see if any have survellience cams, or if any routes to and from your place do... you’ll probably find the assholes and be able to get the Police to go after them to pay for the damages.

I wouldn't fill out a police report. That will get you a bad carfax indicator most likely painting is the only option to fix that and it's not anywhere near 2k worth of work.

Call your insurance company ASAP. This is vandalism, which is covered under your comprehensive insurance. If you're smart, you carry a ridiculously low comprehensive deductible (it covers a lot that you might not realize it does) and it's super cheap for a low deductible. You have a $40k+ car. You're going to want this to be fixed right, rather than half assed. Depending on the extent of the damage, they might authorize a full repaint.

Thanks, deductible is $500 and I got quoted at several places ranging from $700 to $1100+. Just curious, if I'm spending that much money anyway (at least $500 if I use insurance), would it be dumb to get a GT Premium bumper (since I have base) and just have it painted + installed? I know it will probably cost a little more but I do like the look better haha, just a thought!

I’ve never heard if getting a CarFax ding if reporting an egging to the local Police.

His vehicle was vandalized, therefore he SHOULD report it. Do you think his was picked randomly out of everyone else’s on the block? Here’s why he should report it, because if it happens again, then there is a document trail to back up repair costs if or when the perps get caught.

Even if he just reports it as a Comprehensive claim, it’s going to jack his rates (don’t believe any Ins. Co. if they say they won’t, they will at your next renewal). So he should also document it with the Police, because of the cost of repairs alone.

It would suck if he got the car repaired and it was egged again and there’s no prior report of such activity in his neighborhood. Because if he were then say to the Police, well, it happened before - they’re going to say, well, why didn’t you report it the first time....

To each his own I guess...
