I am pretty sure livernois mechs mentioned 350 whp is the highest they would go on stock internals. After that, it's not a matter of if, but when.
Idk if anyone really knows for sure. I do t say this as if to back up the ecoboost btw, merely factual, but there have been tuners that claim 400 with no issues for thousands of miles. I can remember which one but they had about 400 with a turbo kit and between dyno, strip and track use for reliability, they had over 100 hard pulls at the time of their "no issues" post. Now I don't disagree with anything could happen, time bomb claims. I'm a realist lol but 100 pulls is pretty solid without issue. I would be confidant with 400.

Until BAM! Then me and my built motor would welcome 600hp with loving arms

If they are confident about 400 have them warrant that in writing. Otherwise its a worthless assertion.

If you have money laying around for a new built motor why not just get the GT? That's your price differential right there.
Then build up to a procharger or whipple.. Your ceiling in a coyote is much much higher. Lots of guys are getting in the 700's with not much more than an twin screw and OPG. Or go bananas with a twin turbo hellion, driveshafts, clutch, forged internals, OPG, fuel system and go for 1200 :p
:hail:

(which is silly as you will never get that power to the ground)

I'm still trying to have a reasonable DD. I could get a GT but my location starts at about 32k. Then I'm sure kits are at least 5k for the turbo? Plus you need all your bolt ons for that efficiency so about 40k? Maps built motor is 5k and the larger VTT is 2300 putting me at 3600-3700. Still getting good gas mileage. But the benefit for me is that underdog factor. No emblems but maybe a 2.3 or SVO badge, silent killer when at the pump they ask "what motor?" And I reply 500hp Eco biatch.

I realize at some point the numbers start to cross, the money gets bigger etc. the bottom line is for the most part with these mods keeping a little under the GT budget in terms of upgrades on both sides, the EB can be a hell of a track car or DD that will wow not only you but your friends, and other mustang enthusiasts alike. I don't like the separation of GT fans from Eco fans believe me I walked to a dealership and told him "you just don't buy anything but a V8!" And we'll I'll be honest, I couldn't justify that monthly payment and that sucked. However that forced me to get this which after joining the forums and the aftermarket and all of extremely knowledgeable and great people on here, I realized I may have made the greatest decision for me. I now get the experience of building a turbo mustang and defying the common expectations. Still a V8 lover, just found that there are now more option to enjoy an American Classic. It's my vision to see meets where tricked Eco and V8 owners enjoy each others project and hobby. In the end there really isn't a "right" way, but there's endless paths to achieve an 11 sec and under DD that's gets more smiles per gallon than the other guy (other cars, not stangs)

You know something I haven't mentioned yet, yeah any of us could get a GT, get an exhaust and headers and whatever. At the end your a great sounding GT. Get of couple together and you have some very similar and typical GT performing as should. I may get flack for this but to me that isn't as special as the underdog Eco hitting the track getting similar times as well. A modded Eco says something different and has a wow factor. It's not supposed to be yet you made it that way.
Given that when I go to the track usually a good 20 or so local s550's do as well. I ran 12.67 which for what I have done on pump gas is great. It's 1 full second off my stock time of 13.64 just about. But the average modded GT that night was running 12.20's on pump gas and street tires. Any one of them that had tires were running mid 11's or lower depending on mods, gearing and whether it was 93 octane or e85. For me to have been up near the top I would need a healthy e30 or race gas additive tune and then it's a matter of when the motor would pop being pushed that hard. The big advantage is the coyote can take the beating better IMO. I like my car but truly wish I had saved longer and went with a GT.

Just save up for the MAP short block and a good turbo. You will be rejuvenated

I don't track mine so that one second doesn't make any difference to me. I test drove both and preferred the balance of the EB. It drives like a proper sports car and I can drive it closer to its limits, which I like.

If I do a short block it will be done by an engine builder I'm friends with. i've already sourced a bare block and crank.

What's your plan for the block? Just pistons and rods and crank? Are you gonna sleeve your cylinders? Keep the open deck design? From what I know (I don't know as much as a lot of these guys) you just gotta beef up the lower end.

So I was minding my own business on I5 today and out of nowhere a 2012 Boss 302 drives up. We dance a bit and then get into the empty slow lane and all I hear is his exhaust and see it too and we go, I was in 4th at 3800. Idk if he went all the way but we hit 115 and he didn't pull away from me, dead even. If he went half way he sure made this guys day

If you look down at "2018 Ford Mustang: Drops V-6, Gains New Tech"

You will see that the current speculation is that the new 2018 eco stang will be rated at 350 horsepower like the current RS.

I am not sure if I should be pissed or not because it would seem they deliberately gimped the 2015-2017 stang. If that is the case, I am not sure how they plan to keep the price down with a 10 speed auto and 350 hp. Wonder how much they have to build up the engine to warranty 350 hp? I doubt it would just be an inter cooler and tune. They will likely put the RS engine in it with the reinforced block, and beefed up cylinder head.

That was pretty much expected...

Don't worry about it.... get the VTT turbo and get over it quickly. :D

Pft - maybe just trade it in for the 2018 model and not even worry about mods. Even get a 5 year warranty out of it. Very interested to see how they beef up the motor. Can you imagine 380-400 hp out of a 4 cyl with just a tune?

You guys realize all the RS has is a bigger turbine wheel? Larger wheel, better tuning from the factory and you have a faster car. Like said, upgrade to the Vargas and get tuned and buy some RS 3 ply toilet paper

Depends on your fuel honestly. Check out some threads from them. Stage 1 supposed to be good up to 550. Stage two 600
