Who gets 30mpg on an ecoboost? Not me, 23 on a good day
Exactly.
My experience with my EB was that if you drive like a grandmother, you can get 31MPG, but any amount in the boost and you drop to low 20's.

In my GT with 3.73s, if I drive like a grandmother, I get 25MPG. If I live in the power band (3500-6500 in the coyote), I get 15-16mpg.

I previously owned an EB, but found it wanting, and I didn't want to chance popping a motor with a tune. Sold it and got a new GT.
For mid 32k I got a 2016 GT with PP, which was much better in the handling (and speed) department compared to the base EB.

I imagine that, depending on your tune, your EB may be quicker than a stock GT, but I think you also need to qualify that you have essentially forfeited your powertrain warranty.
I dont know where your getting the handling claim from. Eco handles way way better. bc its an inline four, the weight is along the centerline of the car. The GT's nose isnt nearly as responsive. Granted the base Eco has a soft suspension, but i rather have that so long as the nose goes where I need it to. a GT PP v.s. Eco PP for handling, no contest, the V-8 is just a mass of weight on the front, the I4 is balanced linearly.

As for the warranty, I sold my soul to satan he said my engine will be fine

The ecoboost may not have "felt" much slower but it is, especially approaching higher speeds. If you don't care about numbers than you are winning regardless.:)
The EB has more of a kick from 3000 to 5500 rpm, where it falls off a cliff afterwards. The coyote doesn't really pull much at all until 3500 but then hits all the way up practically to redline.

The GT has much more of a throw you back in your seat feel in the higher rpms.

My handling claim is from personal experience. I owned a base EB for 6000 miles. Yes it has a lighter front end, but compared to my GT PP, did not handle as well. Tons of body roll. Please note I did NOT have the PP EB. The context for my comparison was the fact that the original poster does not as well, and was quoting a price all in on mods that approached what I paid for a brand new GT PP. Hence the comparison.

I think the base suspension in either EB or GT is rather poor.
When I test drove base GT's, they felt like my old Coupe De Ville.

It's not like a tuned GT keeps its powertrain warranty, either. That's a given for any tune, regardless of the engine.

I said a stock GT, as did the original poster.

My point is that there is a ton of potential in the EB, its a great platform. But there is a substantial inherent risk of popping that motor. There have been quite a few cases discussed on this forum of such circumstances.

There are certainly 'safer' tunes than others (Ford performance vs. others).

If we get into modifying the coyote, the gains comparatively are less pronounced with bolt ons, but once you get into FI its another world.

I agree with you on the body roll its excessive. My eco is a base as well. I've Tracked mine several times and I had one session in my buddies 16 GT PP (well one lap before lightning paused the event) and while his suspension was good and the body roll was minimum, the nose was so heavy and unresponsive that you really had to work it just right to nail the apex. as where my Eco even with all the body roll it feels like you could just feel your way through the turn going several mph faster. I do completely agree with the base suspension being really poor its gonna be one of my first upgrades in spring. I just think that lack of nose control made the GT a little worse off than the eco.
Im going for the FP track handling kit in spring I want her to be as stiff as a board haha

My comment was in regards to tuning. Since you took the time to mention that tuned EB will have voided it's warranty, I wanted to make sure you knew a tuned GT would be in the same situation.

Absolutely. Any tune makes a permanent change to the flash counter. Takes very little for a dealer to check it, and then for Ford to refuse warranty work.

Even the Ford Performance tunes, at the very best, diminishes your period of coverage.

Oh I'm fully aware of the warranty. Worth it to me to have a fun car. I also have the means of a built motor if something horrific happens lol

I am pretty sure livernois mechs mentioned 350 whp is the highest they would go on stock internals. After that, it's not a matter of if, but when.

Though I am a conservative guy by nature, but I dont find it worth it to waist a 7000 dollar motor either. Makes the GT a lot more economical when you look at it that way.

Agreed. The FP tune makes it a little more aggressive too when the turbo spools up quicker.
