Most do ask for downloads now why because they want to see it. Make sure right decision is being made, takes it out of dealer hands, dealer trying to pull fast one (helping family or friend), to check if dealer missed something or needs more things done.
Exactly ford is not dumb if they left it up to dealers to make the decision they would be losing a lot of money.

If they void the warranty over a catch can then ford sucks and are dumb!! They should actually thank you for having a catch can cuz it helps with the longevity of the engine

So, do oil catch cans count as a mod that Ford would deny warranty for? Seems minor, but probably officially counts as a mod to emissions control systems.
The catch can doesn't change any functionality of the PCV system. It only catches oil that would have been sucked into the intake and then burned up ... so it's actually HELPING the emissions because that oil is not being burned up and put out the exhaust pipe.

If Ford tried to deny any warranty due to a catch-can then they are obviously trying to weasel the customer big time.

if you are bringing your car in for warranty work - take that shit off.

take everything off and put it back to stock.

know when you can not worry about stuff like that? when the car is out of warranty.

It's a oil catch can. If the dealer is really going to bitch about it then there just being dicks. All the science and physics show that a catch can helps the engine and doesn't change the dynamics of its operation. Like I said they should thank the customer for going the extra mile to preserve their engine

warranty issues regarding catch cans is a fairly common topic on many car forums out there. some say that it modifies your PCV system therefore the dealer can void the warranty, others say that you're theoretically "upgrading" the factory PCV system so it really shouldn't be an issue.

in the end, it's up to the dealer and you're basically rolling the dice.

If Ford ever wanted to deny me warranty because of just a catch-can, then it would certainly be the last Ford I ever bought.

Them saying a catch-can voids warranty is pure hoses shit, and would indicate that they are just trying to bend the customer over. Anyone with any kind of knowledge on how an engine works would know a catch can does absolutely nothing to cause any kind of engine damage.

I would just take mine off frankly (catch can). It takes 2 seconds to unclick it and click back on the factory hose. Mine has 1 bolt (Bob's) to the strut tower where it mounts, but literally under 5 whole minutes.

I had mine on during my first free oil change and my dealer said nothing frankly.

Remember, the oi change guys arent techs they're just hourly young guys. They probably don't care or know to care.

Ford does not have to cover any warranty what so ever if their is any sign of part that is aftermarket. I service a fleet of 300 vehicles, I've had 4 f550 trucks with both the 6.7 diesel and the 6.8 gas. They all have automatic trans with PTO mounts. Each truck has a PTO to drive the Vanair air compressor and generator. The trannys all went out on 4 trucks with less then 20000 miles on them and it was proven that it was not caused by the munci or Chelsea brand PTO. Ford refused to warranty the trans in all 4 trucks. A $10000.00 for each truck. It's bs. And yet they have a PTO mount and hole on the side of their trans for this reason.
