So who is making upgraded engine blocks, rod and pistons? I know MAP has an upgraded block. I see Ford Racing is supposed to come out with one, but who knows when, any others?

I was under the impression that it was the labor that made building motors expensive. Isn't it about $2k for parts to support 800hp? And about 35 maintenance hours?

Depends if you are just talking about building a shortblock, or building an entire engine. If you are looking to buy just a built shortblock there is going to be a core charge in almost every case. You would get that refunded when you send in your block, IF it is still in one piece.

Bearings, Rods, Pistons, Balance Shaft Delete, CSS process (CNCWERX), Crank machining, crank balancing, pinning the crank, main studs, boring, honing, resurfacing.

With the Mustang block there is more involved than a traditional motor, there is added work that needs to be done to properly disassemble and reassemble the block.

I see. Would you happen to know if MAP charges extra for engine assembly? For example, If I send them the engine, would they build the shortblock and reassemble the engine so all that all I need to do is drop it back in? I would hate to have to only send them the shortblock. I figure I could get a friend who's fairly experienced to help pull the whole engine for a 6pack of Budlight. I just don't trust any company without EBM experience with building my shortblock.

We built a really nice block for the customer in that thread. It starts with a new block that has the Cylinder Support System (CSS) installed by CNCWerx, custom forged pistons and rods, pinned crank, pinned cams, ARP studs, FFTEC spec main and rod bearings, balance shaft delete plus a windage tray/oil baffle that fills the gap when the balance shaft assembly is removed.

Not that everyone needs a block that strong. Our shop car only had forged pistons and rods dropped into a fresh stock block and it's still holding up great! We've been pushing well over 500 HP for almost a year and it's still purring as good as new! It's really nice to have this much power, reliability and to know it doesn't cost a fortune. :cheers:

Yes they charge 1200+ parts if I remember correctly to convert from shortblock to longblock.

Yep, that's my engine. Working great so far. Getting some plans together now to push the car to around 700 bhp (600ish rwhp). I have no doubt the assembly is good to handle it.

FYI, the Ford Performance piece that was displayed at SEMA and referenced is a lesser version of our Powerstorm piece that also features our parts.
