I went for routine maintenance and in the showroom (along with 2 GT 500s, a 350R, and 2 Bullets ) was this little gem. I guess you'd have to call it used -just under 3500 miles, but I wouldn't mind

It’s a living fossil and I dig it.

Nice. Is it for sale?

A mint '86 SVO is high on my car bucket list, as I wanted one badly when they came out and I was but a poor high school kid. A black one, not as much, but with those miles I can accommodate....

I vividly remember test driving a used Mustang SVO ca. 1989. It was fun, but it smelled like oil after I got on it for a while. I decided to stay away.

I'd love to have one of these with a RS engine swapped into it.

Oh, damn....you'd have to drag me out of that dealership.

Not sure. I have to go back in a week or so. If so, it won't be cheap :wink:

I never get bored waiting for my car to be serviced, lol. There were also two 2020 GT 500s, a '20 GT350R, and '19 and '20 Bullets that day. When I was there in July, they had a supercharged S197 Saleen and a '19 Supersnake. There is always something.

I had (2) of those in the past. A black 1985 and a silver 1984.

They were really great handling Fox Mustangs and despite the GT or 5.0 bashers, the SVO could hold it’s own stock for stock.

Yeah I remember the 4 cylinder made similar power to the V8 - somewhere between 175 and 205 depending on the year. Definitely 80s fast. And it could make a lot more power if you wanted it to. I remember some guy got his 2300 Mustang into the 10s back in the early 90s. Not cheap to do that, though.

I like dealerships that display their passion for performance cars. The SVO was one of my dream cars when I entered my teens, so seeing one, looking as good as this one looks, really takes me back. I remember reading the R&T article over and over when they first got their hands on one. Never got to drive one, although I did drive several turbo Thunderbirds traded in at the dealership I worked for. Loved that turbo whine.

The SVO isn't on display now. I asked today about it, and they said it was part of the owner's collection. It wasn't actively being sold, but anything he displays could be if given a decent offer.
This is this months' display. Apparently it is for sale if someone inquires . God, starting to sound like a shill. In reality, bored and killing time dealing with the ever popular flawed lug nut issue.

Wow. My high school girlfriends Dad had one exactly like it, except it was 3 on the tree with a huge V8.
