Eco post weight vs challenger

So I got into a v6 challenger as a rental. While my car was being worked on. It was a cool car. Inside and out. Standard Apple car play. Comfortable seats. Roomy. Slow as fuck. But still an enjoyable experience. So for shits and gigs I decided to test drive an RT. which was more fun than the V6 but a long shot. So after doing research cause I like car stuff, I find out the RT’s weigh 4200lbs. Hoooooly fuck that’s a heavy car. I thought the EB was heavy. And, it is. But you can feel how heavy the RT is. Also, I saw multiple eco’s destroy RT’s on the drag strip. Whyyyyy is that car so damn heavy

I can't help but to feel like this is a post looking for validation for getting an Ecoboost or something along those lines but I'll dabble.

An Ecoboost weighs low 3600 lbs on a bad day (every box ticked). So no kidding a car with 310 horsepower at relatively low RPM and decent gearing can give a 370 horsepower horsepower car that weighs literally a third of a BWM E30 more a run for it's balls. Why does it weigh that? Steel unibody and a wheelbase that is 8" longer with more overhang and more height. Frankly, I'd take the Charger RT over an Ecoboost Mustang any day. I'd take a Charger RT Scat Pack over a Mustang GT. I will NOT take a Hellcat over a GT350.

I already have an EB. I love my EB. I liked the RT too. It just bugged me how heavy the RT was. That’s all. I’m not shitting on either car.

Challengers are overweight because they share the underpinnings with the large 300 and Charger sedans. Mustang will probably be headed that way if and when they start sharing the platform with the explorer.

Apparently the 300, is going away. Which is a shame I like the 300. The charger and challenger are getting a complete redesign in 2020. Allegedly.
