...
Just received my EBM Procal kit. Very disappointed in fit of air inlet. after modifying (cutting inlet tube seal), and comparing old inlet to new, I discovered that the new inlet is smaller than the one it's replacing. The new one does not fit over the the in place air nozzle. So now I have a inlet tube that is not sealed properly installed.
Has anyone else noticed this problem while doing the air bucket install?

Yes and not only that but the bucket is bigger than the intake for the Ecoboost so now it pushes, puts a lot of stress on the intake tube. Extremely crappy from Ford Performance.

The stupid part about the air inlet is that is a clip on adapter, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't make it the correct size.

Yea, alter waiting so long for this kit you would think that it would fit properly. I thought they sent the wrong CAI. I wonder if the GT350 CAI is a better fit, or if in fact it is the GT350 CAI.... I'm wondering if those that bought the 350 CAI had the same fitment issues. I've looked for threads on this but no joy. Maybe someone can find one.

The problem is it IS the GT350 intake. They even sent it complete with the GT350 intake tube and even included the MAF sensor. People will be selling those I guess. I don't have a problem with them re-using the GT350 intake but they could have at least provided an air intake adapter that actually fit out opening and provided a coupling that fit to our intake tube.

I'm wondering if I need to get a GT350 air inlet (outside air) to make a decent seal between outside air and underhood air. I have to figure out how to get that part number.

That sounds like the thing to do, If I have any issues it'd easy enough to swap over to the CAI.

The funny thing my Ford dealer and one of the guys I talked to at Ford Performance are clueless about the intake requirements. They both said if you change the intake it will require a re-calibration/tune. I think they say that just because they are used to the GT which uses a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor and our Ecoboost uses a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. MAPs are more frequently used with positive displacement engines as it gives a more accurate reading of the air available for combustion mixture and it typically found post intercooler. This allows us to change to any intake without need for a tune change.

Yet FP even puts in the instructions, "YOUR NEW PERFORMANCE EQUIPMENT REQUIRES AN UP-TO-DATE CALIBRATION TO OPERATE PROPERLY." Truth is, you can put that intake on if you want, leave you stock airbox, use some other favored brand intake or even run a combination like the AirAid intake tube to your stock intake box like many are doing and it won't make a difference. HOWEVER, to register the warranty, I'm sure the dealer or tech is going to go ahead and install the new intake. PLUS, if you have a problem and take it in for warranty and you've changed the intake, expect resistance. If/when it makes it to a technical discussion, their argument will fall apart though.
