Wondering if the DW400 pump works with the canned Whipple stage 2 tune?

Since moving from Denver to San Diego, my car has had a number of issues. Including a really rough idle, throwing codes that say it is lean, as well as struggling after being parked uphill over night. I suspect that the stock pump isn't cutting it, or dying.

Thanks in advance everyone!!

Yes, there is nothing in the tune that is different when you swap to a DW400, it will flow more fuel than stock for sure, especially with a 17v BAP. Just make sure you get he s550 specific one, I know they were 15% off during Black Friday not sure if that carries over the weekend, but you can prob find it in the $250 range give or take a bit

It’s fine.
The only issue you might have with it is hot starts. It tends to take a little longer for the engine to fire with the DW400.
Results are the same with 3 different PD blowers, 3 different tuners.

The DW400 doesn't have a built in check valve, so this causes those lazy starts since it is not capable of retaining pressure when engine is shut off, it all bleeds down to nothing so it has to prime and refill the lines every time you start it. I heard they are working on one with a check valve to help with this

I’d be more impressed if they got it right the first time TBH. :headbang:

I too have the dw400 in tank pump and have e85 with a procharger setup. I am having issues with hard starting and the car is struggling to idle at times but makes big power. I contacted Deatschwerks directly to ask about the issues I am having and they told me that some cars have no issues other than the usual e85 startup which takes a few more cranks. But my car has like the worst symptoms. They also mentioned to me that they are working on a built in check valve. The issues could also be tune related.

I've had issues with both hot and cold starts. I cycle my car in the on position for a few seconds before starting it up. Car is making good power but it could be tune related as well.

JMO, you should probably get your tune revised before you throw money at a pump. The air density in Denver is worlds different than San Diego and that can greatly affect the performance of your car.

The pump will not affect the car idling rough, the lack of check valve and e85 combined w ill cause longer cold start, as it you will crank longer before it fires, but once it fires the lack of check valve make no difference since the system stays pressurized the entire time the engine is running.
