Hey all, hoping for some help.

Bought my son a 2016 GT a year and change ago, he did an ESS kit, its super loud and obnoxious.

Over the last month or so it has developed an oil leak on the drivers side that drips onto the manifold. It seems to collect on the bolt channel that is nearest the dipstick tube. We changed the gasket on that valve cover yesterday thinking that was it, but its still showing a small drip and smoking.

Could it be from the dipstick tube?

This car never had the TSB done and has the valve covers that are "missing bolts".

any help is appreciated greatly.

Install the cast aluminum GT500 valve covers.

What about first establishing if the valve cover is still leaking or not
Easy to do, wait for the car to cool down and run your finger underneath the valve cover where it meet the head

The valve cover leaks is well known and was only on the 15-17’s due to Ford (for whatever reason) not using ALL available securing locations on the valve covers…

Thread containing the valve cover TSB:

Since you already did the valve covers - this info is for anyone else who still needs to do the job. These docs should help with valve cover R&R; note they are for a 2015 Coyote 5.0, but the basic principle and job is the same across the Coyote variants.

Instructions for L & R valve cover R&R:

Also check the oil pressure sensor that is located on that side of the engine block. It was also another common area of leak/seepage problems. If the sensor is not properly tightened it eventually vibes loose and will leak…. If it’s let go, it’s going to leak a lot more… which is not good.

To remedy, remove it from the engine, throughly clean the sensor threads and the area above and below on engine block using any carb/efi/brake cleaner product. Wipe all areas dry. Put Teflon tape on sensor threads OR use a good sealant that is oil resistant on the threads, reinsert sensor to engine block and tighten it just a little beyond hand tight, so it is not loose. Do not over tighten or you can damage the block threads OR break the sensor off…. Start car, monitor for leaks, if dry then it’s sealed.

We installed the GT500 style valve covers and all appears good now. Couple of those bolts can kiss my rear end though, tough to see/get to.

All is good now though with my kids GT.

I thought the drivers side was much worse, passenger side we removed the outside of the battery box and it made that side really easy.

So just to wrap this thread up. GT500 style valve covers solved this issue.

he ordered them from LMR (I think) and when they arrived there was no hardware. A quick email and they said “something must have happened, we are sending another set right now”. Second set arrived with all the hardware.

if anyone local to me needs a set of these valve covers I’d make them a heck of a deal….

Easier to throw parts at shit instead of fixing it. That's the problem with people and wanna be mechanics, Sunday heros that buy tools from home depot and think they can fix things
