I noticed this knocking sound at idle and I’m not sure if it just another one of those coyote sounds. Doesn’t get louder or follow rpm as far as I can tell (sound gets drowned out with throttle input).

Thanks, hoping for good news..

I don't have any of the answers you're looking for, but I've noticed mine makes a lot of noise when it's cold. I first noticed when leaving the parking garage at work. But lately it's been even louder when leaving home driving on open roads.

Sounds pretty normal to me. I hear normal valve train and fuel pump ticks. Suggest another video, but stay in each spot for 5~10 sec, and also have someone slowly rev the engine up to 2000 RPM then back down to idle while recording at the location you think most noise is coming from.

I cant get the car to make the sound right now but listen around the 00:10 mark and you’ll hear a distinct thud/knock. You can actually feel the thud/knock if you rest your hand on the intake manifold.

Go through a drive through somewhere, and if that thunking becomes more apparent after a while, believe it or not, it’s normal.

That, the “bbq tick”, and 2K rattle, are all normal. At least Ford says so. The Coyote engine generates a lot of distress with all the noises it makes. I took mine to 3 different dealers for all the noises I mentioned, and they all said normal. I believe there’s a tsb for the very noise in the video, it basically says if sounds kinda like a diesel, don’t worry about it.

Shit drives me nuts sometimes...

Your engine sounds perfectly normal OP. It's reportedly the high-pressure fuel pump driven by the right intake cam, and you can see the insulation over it on the passenger side of the engine, right by the second last spark plug. Some cars are noisier than others. Mine is one of the quietest I've heard, but only has 4K+ miles on it. Enjoy it, brother :).

I know this is an old thread, but if you still have the car, does it make the same knocking sound as the OP's? Mine does, but it's a 2022 Mach 1 and the knocking noise seems to be coming from the driver's side rear of the engine.
Thanks!

Did you ever find out definitively what this sound is? Mine is making the same knocking sound, but seems most noticeable from the driver's seat. I can hear it with a stethoscope through the whole engine, so it could be resonating from anywhere, I suppose....

I just bought my 2020 and I have the same noise lol! It’s driving me nuts, it only does it in park when its warm and its totally random. I can only hear it from the cabin. Sooooo annoying.
