For clarification, talking about the vented piece with the speaker, center of the dashboard. Mine is rattling and I must tape the ever-loving shit out of the bottom of it.

1 would imagine that you would need to remove the brushed aluminum dash accent that the vents protrude out of first ... pic a warm day . Use plastic upholstery prying tool .

You might want to replace the crappy factory speaker while you are in there.

I removed mine to add a gps module to my head unit. It seems sketchy, but you just have to give it a good pull.

Not to highjack the thread but what is a good replacement for the center speaker? Size and brand?

It's a good idea to put some foam in-between your hand and the windshield. I've witness someone cracking their windshield taking that off. It doesn't come off easy.

Alright got the first 2 pieces off (dash applique). The big piece sounded like it broke eight thousand times while popping out those clips, working on this car makes my anxiety shoot up. Just have to remove the main offender now...I'm recovering from a sinus infection so I still feel a little loopy and uncoordinated so we'll see how this goes.

Polk db351 worked well for me.
+1 on that. The install is a little bit of a pita on non PP cars because we can't under mount it the way chef did. I ended up grinding down the grill a bit.

That's how everything on these cars is. I bought about a dozen of those clips to keep in stock for future projects. lol

You picked the optimal time to begin an unfamiliar process!

And re: the replacement speaker...
I haven't looked at mine, but I expected that the metal clips into which the 7mm screws go would have been on the edges of the opening as opposed to the speaker. Isn't the OE speaker screwed onto the plastic? rather than the screws being threaded through the plastic and into the speaker(?)

I think you’re going to find that the rattle also comes from the long black vented plastic piece at the very base of the windshield too... on my prior 2016, that piece rattled and was annoying. Anyone know how to remove THAT piece?
