FCA was just named in a potential emissions cheating scandal by the EPA...FCA doesn't exactly have the luxury of being able to take a large hit and while it's not close to the scale of VW...their trucks are their moneymakers and the trucks are the issue.

With respect to the Demon...these sorts of projects might get the nod from beancounters when times are good, but with potential trouble on the horizon, who knows.

More weight, more horsepower, eh why not!

AWD doesn't automatically make a car awesome. It just depends on how well the system works and how it controls slip and torque. With 800hp it could still be worthless and just add up ending more weight. What systems does FIAT/Dodge have running on AWD platforms that can show how well their system works? I know I remember seeing the Charger was going to be offered in the V6 trim with AWD.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is running with the 6.4 @ 475 HP with the A8/AWD combo and it works very well.

The Charger has AWD only on the V6 for public ordering due to the low take rate of the 5.7 AWD system, but it's still available on the police package.

This.

From what I've read on industry sites, FCA really isn't doing all that hot. The only things keeping them afloat are the trucks and Jeep.

Of course they're going after people who sell diesels...they got a pound of flesh from VW and they smell cash.

If I could I'd run the entire agency into a vat of acid.

My favorite part of the commercial was Metallica. Least favorite part was everything before that.

What horsepower number will they have to hit when big insurance and government says it's over?

IF they make it AWD, it will be more than 4,700 pounds lol. Which is huge. But it will be an awesome straight line punch

Where is everyone getting AWD? Even if it is AWD, what are we looking at here, 4,800 pounds 800 HP? The Hellcat is already a boat, adding AWD will add hundreds of more pounds. They talk about tenths in the 1/4 and straight line speed, but ask any drag racer and they will tell you weight is just as important.
i do not believe the demon will be AWD,at all.it will be a wide body car with wider tires, and more power.FORD can do a 825hp car, then do a 875hp KR just for back up if needed, and that will still give FORD the power crown.the demon will weigh even more than it does now.:cheers::ford:

“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture...The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation.”

That to me is marketing gold. They are not trying to be all things.....

The Demon will not have AWD. Apparently a Charger variant is not planned for right now. It will be a wide body though with presumably wider, stickier rubber and a bit more power. Look at the new Fast and Furious trailer if you want a good look at what it will look like. Then there's an ADR version which I'm just going to speculate is like a GT350R, just built for the quarter mile.

The only Challenger model that has AWD is the V6. If you want an AWD Hellcat though wait on the Jeep.

Haha I dunno, it's gonna be hard to beat if it's AWD and 800+ HP like the rumors are suggesting. Listening to all these Ford press conferences makes me realize that Ford is fixated on "the city of tomorrow" and the all-electric autonomous future. It kind of makes me lose hope in Ford Performance. Yes, I'm sure they'll put out a few more great models, but I don't think performance models really fit into their long term plan at all sadly. Dodge's plan may be short sighted, but I for one am glad they're churning out all these awesome models while they still can.
Couldn't Ford do GT350/500s and other performance models as niche/specialty market vehicles, and still be profitable? They could likely get away with charging a few more thousand per vehicle and forbid dealers from adding ADM.
