Do you use rev matching for track?

Is rev-matching as fast as manual-blipping on a track (assuming proficient driver)?

When I did Track Attack I was going to do heel and toe. That idea went out the window after the first turn. It all depends on your experience with track driving and what you want to do. For fast laps, I would use it. For ‘fun’ laps, I would do heel and toe.

Agree, I did a beginner track attack and couldn't even imagine trying to rev match myself with all the stuff going on lol

I use rev match on track, but I have found if the car is a little ‘upset’ going into a corner the rev match doesn’t like it. Not sure why or how but it encourages smooth corner entry.

It is incredibly great for the track. Gives you 100% brake pedal attention, and works perfectly, every time. There may be a handful of drivers out there that can do it as good, but you won't ever do it "better" than the computer. The computer knows exactly what rpms the car requires on any given downshift. To think you can do that better is just ignorance.

I finally figured this out, (I think).
If the incoming rev match rpm will put the motor at, or over redline, it won't flare for you.
It sucks, because when you finally get into the lower gear, it really upsets the balance.
If scrubbing more speed isn't needed, it just means you're getting faster.
I had this happen later in the day yesterday, going from 5-4 going into the bus stop and 4-3 into T7 (Toe of the boot) at Watkins Glen.
Approaching T7 in 4th was very close to redline (downhill), and there is isn't much slowing required as it's an aggressive uphill corner, so that's where it happened more.
Approaching T5 (bus stop) is the fastest part of the track and was still very close to redline there, but much more slowing and trail braking is needed, so unless I was trying to take a deeper, different line, it wasn't as much of an issue.
Could also be some minor nanny intervention too, but I had no problems after I figured out the rpms at shift.

That’s a great point. Next time on track I’m gonna pay attention, and it makes sense when I consider the corners I’ve experienced it on.

Did my first track day with the Mach 1 after breaking it in. The rev match was spot on consistantly. I think I made my times faster in that I could dive deeper into a corner and brake harder and not have to worry about the rear tires under rotating and getting me into a slide.

The no lift shift was easier on the drivetrain I think. I do like the regular shifting though as you get a nice backfire on every shift past 2nd gear. You don't get the "bang" with no lift shift.
