Makes sense to me that an additive could help reduce wear, but I'm surprised it made such a big difference in that application.

This steel mill is capable of turning flat steel sheets into 16 inch diameter 1/2 inch thick pipe. Lots of pressure on these gear boxes.

Anyway it turned me off to anything RP

I have also read that MPG was in play, but that's something I don't think about. The 0W for GA seems odd, usually it's for long colder temps. We get low but never for an extended length of time.

You tow anything on a regular basis ? While I do agree with the book. Am getting ready to jump the viscosity for the Mustang. Next oil change coming due.

That's a odd problem you have going there.

I do tow hay for the horses but its not tasking on the truck at all.

Definitely apples to kumquats comparing whatever oil was used in those gearboxes to 0w 20 engine oil, but whatever makes you happy.

We used the same chevron dino gear oil you can buy at the local truck repair center.
RP said their stuff was better and convinced the Maintenance Mgr to try it. Only cost a few days of downtime.

Maybe RP learned from that and improved their oil, but I won't touch it.

Problem solved! Traded it in yesterday for a 2021 SCA Performance 6.2L "Black Widow" 1500.
