You see the little lines at the bottom left corner of the dyno sheet? THAT's why. He put on the new intake and it ran like shit with the tune, so they basically didn't bother making a pull. The 401 was stock intake and the canned SCT tune, I believe.
That's not bad at all . I ran 418/376 on a dynojet with intake headers and tune from Lund. We know Dyno jet will read higher then a dynamics

dynojet usually reads higher than mustang. every dynamics comparison I have seen read higher than dynojet.

The number is cool and all but it doesnt mean anything without having something to compare and contrast it against, hence, the disappointment.

the cars are def finicky on the dyno, pulling the fuse disables the system, similar to pulling an abs sensor,

at the track we never run into issues, but the dyno can be very picky. and yes, once you hit the ground, everything resets pretty quick

This is the second post i have seen now about the default SCT tune hitting 400whp with no other mods other then maybe a catback. Not bad. :D

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I thought these cars were pulling 435HP stock? I understand that ford would have undergone different conditions in their testing to achieve that number, but there is still a considerable drop.

435 is crank not WHP. There is loss between the crank and wheels in the drive train so whp will always be lower than claimed in the brochures. Unless you BMW but they undershoot their real crank hp. That's another topic though.

Depending on auto or manual you will see an 11% to 15% drop between ford crank advertised power and real world whp.

The industry doesn't make it easy for newbies to get it. Vendors are the worst with claims like "30hp our new XXX." All the boost adder companies speak to bhp not whp in advertising, same goes for intake and exhaust folks. No one wants to say add "12hp for $400", crank hp is easier to sell. The claim is true most of the time but you butt dyno will never really feel it.

I dont buy that these cars only have 10-15% drivetrain loss either though. I think a lot of dynos are being very generous and also believe the engines are under rated out of the box. I dont believe for 1 second that this engine makes 435hp and puts 401 of that to the ground. Not gonna happen on this planet. Ford took a beating with the '99/00 Cobra and I think they've made it a point to not replicate that fiasco.

That car that put 401 to the ground stock could put 350rwhp on a Mustang dyno or something else that isn't as happy as a Dynojet. Neither is proof of the factory 435hp rating.

This was on a Dyno Dynamics but it really doesnt matter. The correction values are on the owner of the dyno. Like I said, the number means nothing to me right now because I have nothing to compare the results too. Sure, the peak number is great for bragging rights but I'd much rather know what the tune and CAI are actually doing.

On that note, the dyno time I originally had for Monday got snatched up by somebody else and I've been bumped to Tuesday. The engine ran quite a bit better on the way home from work today (this morning was pretty nasty). Hopefully the computer is making some tweaks and things are pretty good by Tuesday afternoon.

On another note, I wanted to address the IATs from the JLT that I initially posted. Since the tune was way off (again, my fault), those results gotta go in the dumpster.

After looking at the logs from last nights brief run and the log I ran on the way to work this morning, the averages for the JLT are currently at:

Min - 12°
Max - 32°
Avg - 20°

Now, this morning was extremely cool compared to weather the last month. It was 65° on the way to work, just gorgeous for a change! The humidity was also very low (wish this weather would last). This has a pretty big impact to the average for now but if you guys start providing me with data (especially log files) I'll continue to plug the info into the spreadsheet I've created. The more data, the more realistic the information will become. If you share the data, be sure to provide the ambient temp as these numbers are all referenced as above ambient.
