Long story short, I'm on a strict E85 tune (no cats) that i run the car with almost all the time and i've been battling this GDI Injector failure (leaking fuel into the affected cylinder) issue for about a year now.
Similar to @RoyalCrimsonGT's thread, my #2 GDI injector went out, followed by #4 GDI injector. Decided to replace the rest of them. Ran fine for a couple of months until all of them decided to go out again (one by one).
Decided to replace the High Pressure Fuel Rail Sensor, didn't work. Replacing the GDI injectors fixes it but only temporarily for me, until another random one decides to leak fuel into the cylinder. So i switched to my Flex tune and decided to run pump 91 and it seems to allow the car to run better. Seems that the car readjusts fuel trims and all of a sudden the car is no longer leaking fuel or misfiring. Decided to reset the KAM and all of a sudden it starts to dump fuel In one GDI injector again. But if i allow the car to relearn the Short term fuel trims on pump 91 it seems to be alleviating the issue.
But why on earth it even doing this in the first place? At this point this seems to be either a PCM or a GDI pump issue since there is a Fuel Volume control sensor in it. Any ideas?
